DD1 has just started preschool and takes a packed lunch but I have no idea what to put in her sandwiches. So far I've come up with.... ham but she can't have that every day, so what else can I put in?

She can't eat cheese btw.

My DD doesn't do sandwiches either
My winning formula - cos shes eats every bit is
breadsticks and cheddar cut into small squares
sticks of carrot and celery
grapes
banana
apple
apple juice

The dinner ladies prob think I'm a health freak but it's what she likes to eat.
A sandwich can take her 1/2 hour to eat!

Ham, ham and ham here I'm afraid - or occasionally cucumber sandwiches for DS2.

Always wholemeal bread, fruit, drink and a penguin/breakaway type biscuit.

mind you - I have the same for my sandwiches at lunch time!

There is a guy in my office who's wife makes him the best packed lunches with individual pots of fruit, or nice crisps and delish looking rolls filled with Salad.
I keep suggestign she could make them for all of us but to no avail!

dd1 - fake ham and brown bread - NO butter or mayo or moist maker at all (bleaurgh)
dd2- garlic bread - I cook it in the morning, wrap it in foil and a teatowel but I think it is stone cold by lunch - still she loves it and stinks to high heaven every afternoon, bet the teachers love doind reading with hter then

Thank you for this thread!

DS1 has only needed a "packed lunch" since October, and he has pretty much insisted on cheese sandwiches every day...(plus a banana or other fruit and raisins).

I got a bad feeling last week when one of his teachers said to me "oh raspberry sandwiches today" (made by DH).

Fast forward to his parent-teacher interview, which went well, till the end, when she she said that he seems to be bored of his lunch...who wouldn't be after having cheese sandwiches every day for five months!

So DH made him pasta that night to take the next day.

Did he eat it?
of course not!

Yesterday he had rice, and he ate it all,

and today he had egg and mayo (ate it all!).

Glad my DS is not the only one who seems to be happy with the same every day!

My son only likes cheese sangers, so I use a variation of cheeses (cream cheese, cheddar, havarti, mozarella, Jarlsberg etc )- and breads (brown bread, bagel, pitta, wraps, muffins, rolls...) to make it more interesting. I switch up the fruit, yoghurt, snacks & drinks that he gets to get a bit of variety into his diet, so I'm not too worried that he's a little cheese sarnie freak!
