Simon Hopkinson "Roast Chicken and other stories" gets my vote
Nigella Lawson "How to Eat" for general reading and drooling

Onlyaphase · 07/03/2008 12:46

How to Eat was pre TV for Nigella if this helps?

snooks · 07/03/2008 12:47

Claudia Roden on middle eastern cooking
Definitely Simon Hopkinson
Lindsey Bareham's new one, Dinner in a Dash, is beyond fab
Have you discovered Trish Deseine? Although from NI, she was married to a Frenchman and originally published in French. Now some of her stuff is appearing in translation

so far I chose 1080 recipes

what else what else

( I'm so excited because books are very expensive here in Australia and this is Amazon UK, we don't even have Amazo here, just a peddler who comes around every rainy season with a handcart of withered paperbacks)

and the Simon Hopkinson - thanksfor hte recommendation

I find Nige somewhat unsavoury ever since I read the chapter in Toast about the walnut whips and the Lover's Lane. Shudder

A little random, but someone recently recommended to me Knife Skills Illustrated

I'd suggest Thai Food by David Thompson, but given you're in Oz (I think?) it's a little bit "coals to Newcastle". Elizabeth David?
