i cant cook - i know you think its easy to follow a recipe - but it never works - its like saying " haw hard it is to wter a plant" well cant do that either

my problem is this

i hate cooking. recently my domestic situation means that i have to do all the fucking cooking
this means that last time we went shopping bought anything that went "DING!" and we idnt sit down together and eat all week and i just shouted to te kitche " get somma out offrezzer and whizz it if your hungry"

both shit for family cohesiveness and in the good mm stakes i felt super guilty.

anyway

even what you consider to e fast things - like pasta and mince isnt.

it isnt it ist it isnt

this is becuase i like to stew te meat for a bit becuase i have OCD regarding cooked meet.

my dh wont eat anything the least bit unmanly becuase he is a dick

lat nights tea consisted of me cooking 4 gammon staks and frying egg - for dick

whilst i then did mince, leak, onion, tomato, garlic fryup /sweat off and pasta

trying to make this cook and come together at sametime - is a fucking nightmare.

and i always do it

i dont know what i am asking - i am fucked off

i hate cooking

no one cleans the grill pan, the frying pan, the sweat off pot - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh

watch dicks face should i present him with a baked potato

and then harken this - does anyone takeanythng out for defrosting?

do
they
fuck.

now dick thinks he works as a fucking lumberjack or summat and only a big steak of grizzy bear will do

i think your getting the analogy
i iz not even shittin ya when i say that he gets nasty over being given girl food.

the problem is - i hate dicks fod

steaks are boring and pants and i would ratherchew my own fanny

i hate ham or gammon or even thick bacon i heave its disgusting

i bought a sandwich toastie - thats good

so without being fancy and considering that anythingthat need watching, strring, any attention at all i cant do, i cant cook and i am tired fucked off and cant be arsed

any suggestions

MamaG · 30/01/2008 11:25

get a cook

Buda · 30/01/2008 11:26

A slow cooker - you can bung things in in the morning and it's ready when you come home?

Twiglett · 30/01/2008 11:26

how about slow cooked stews .. where you can cook it for hours and it just gets better like irish stew and casserole beef etc

can do bung it recipes later if you want

missnevermind · 30/01/2008 11:27

OAMC

(once a month cooking)
Get out all the pots
Stand there all day chopping and stiring
Dont move!

Whack it all in serving size microwavable pots.

Microwave at feeding time.

Once a month. Not once a day!

calzone · 30/01/2008 11:28

Breathe Custy!!!

Ok....what about pasta with pesto?

Will Dick eat that?

Just cook the pasta, stir in the pesto and grate a load of cheese over it.

Roast dinners are easy enough. Then you can have the chicken with baked potato and salad and Dick can have vegetables.

Burgers arent difficult to make. Just mix mince with onion, roll in a ball, flatten it and fry it. Dick would eat that. With chips.

soups?

scorpio1 · 30/01/2008 11:28

slow cooker great!

can make quick sausage casserole thing - fry sausages first. put in slow cooker. tin of toms and then tin of beans.leave all afternoon (i used baked but you could get tin of curried mixed beans etc). serve with mash and veg. yum and not for girls.

southeastastra · 30/01/2008 11:28

buy chicken thighs and add one of those chasseur/white wine tins. easy and tasty. not much washing up either.

Twiglett · 30/01/2008 11:29

sausage casserole

get chipolatas and brown them in a pan

shove in casserole dish and add 1 tin chopped tomatoes, 1 tin Heinz baked beans, 1 tbsp mixed herbs .. put lid on and bung in oven for an hour at about 180 .. make mash

MamaG · 30/01/2008 11:30

baked potato my arse

his HEAD would be baked

on a more helpful note, what about a slow cooker?

has anybody suggested a slow cooker?

Oliveoil · 30/01/2008 11:33

hey, good idea MamaG

Niecie · 30/01/2008 11:33

Surely it depends what you eat baked potato with - DH has it covered in chilli instead of having it with rice - no girly at all.

Serve it with a chicken casserole (put chicken pieces, chopped up veg, dried herbs, an oxo cube and a can of tomatoes in a dish and stick it in the oven for an hour )

Better still - get your kids to do the cooking. Tell them it is an important life skill and you are giving them the responsibility. They'll thank you for it in the long run.

Slouchy · 30/01/2008 11:36

OK.
Sounds like Dick is an old-fashioned English bloke - none of yer forriin crap fer me. just like my dad.

So.

A week's menu of the sort we had when I was a kid (for aforesaid crap dad)

lancs hotpot (Slow cooker job)
Bacon, onion and potato hotpot Takes 40 mins in oven, one pot)
chops, mash and veg
steak and chips one night (for everyone)
pasta with mattesons pretend-salami sliced up into it another night (in exchange for you eating fanny and chips the day before)
curry, rice and nan bread - home made or take away

Let me know if you want any recipes
roast dinner (could do cold meat and chips next day if enough left over)

Well I can cook, but I do sympathise with you on the plant watering front. I can even garden but a plant in the house, just can't cope....

I would try to cook double/triple portions (although for 5 who are all near enough adults that will be a lot). So on a Saturday cook enough spag bol (well the bol at least) to last for 3 meals. Could you buy burgers or kebabs from the butcher? Pork chops grilled with potatoes and veg or salad.
