I bought some Plymouth gin for christmas - I have a friend in Plymouth and it made me laugh. It is very nice with a dry edge.

I do love a gordons too.

Last year I treated myself to bombay sapphire - that was nicely aromatic.

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round up of Mumsnetters’ favourite gins.

I bought a bottle of Sapphire once - and I was SOO disappointed that it wasn't blue!

A drop of food colouring soon sorted that out though - people were a bit surprised but I loved it.

foofi · 20/12/2007 07:12

Gordons.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/12/2007 07:21

I do like Bombay Sapphire, and also liked Millers when I had it as a present.

Has anyone tried Hendricks? I fancy trying it but don't want to waste a wedge of cash.

Got a nice organic one from Tesco once, called Juniper Green, also surprisingly cheap (two years ago). Tanqueray is the best though ... just yummy.

PandaG · 20/12/2007 08:11

like Tanqueray or PLymouth myself, tho' Gordon's is fine too.

TEUCHywithallthetrimmings · 20/12/2007 08:32

You have to try Blackwoods...it is my very, most special, favourite!!

suzywong · 20/12/2007 08:34

Bombay Sapphire

Tanquery makes me mopey

moondog · 20/12/2007 08:35

Isn't drinking gin just asking for serious strife?

TEUCHywithallthetrimmings · 20/12/2007 08:36

nope, serious strife is just asking for gin!!

suzywong · 20/12/2007 08:39

I tend to agree with MD

DH bought me back a bottle from duty free, so of course I drank it. don't really like the effect. but the devil makes me do it as I have no free will of my own.

suzywong · 20/12/2007 08:40

bad stuff

moondog · 20/12/2007 08:41

My dh is on his way home from Tajikistan as I speak with a suitcase full of vodka. I am fairly confident in stating that almost all the woes of the former USSR are due to excessive consumption of vodka and pickled garlic.

Plymouth gin

followed by

Tanqueray

followed by Bombay Saphire

If someone buys us a bottle of Gordons DH and I do g&t taste tests alongside the Bombay Saphire or Plymouth gin. Sad, I know. The conclusion is that it all tastes like gin& tonic. Lovely

WeFrizYouaMerryChristmas · 20/12/2007 09:22

Bombay Sapphire gets my vote too

CremolaFirCone · 20/12/2007 09:23

TheGoatofChristmasPast · 20/12/2007 09:24

meepingaroundthechristmastree · 20/12/2007 09:24

I love gin!
I am a Gordons girl - but have recently had my head turned by Hendriks - very different - even made my gin-hating friend liked it - and the cucumber is yum too!
