santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:29

leather, pipe smoke and whisky flavoured sorbet (because his uncle or somebody used to smoke a pipe and give him a dram -- lost the bit about leather!)

Is he the one who runs the Fat Fuck?

It's the Emperor's New Clothes, I tell you

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:37

you're probably right, SGS, but his obsessive and manic attention to detail is rather endearing, bless.

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:38

Glad someone else is watching - I thought it was just Pestomonster's dh and me

thegrowlygus · 19/12/2007 20:39

hmmm - feeding the geese essence of fir tree. So they taste like christmas trees. Hello?!!!

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:40

yup, he's the full Upminster -- but people pay him to do it, so all power to his christmas-tree-flavoured geese

OP posts:
BibiJesus · 19/12/2007 20:40

How does he know what a fir tree tastes like and if the goose will tast of Christmas?! Odd

thegrowlygus · 19/12/2007 20:41

The man is crackers. In a terribly nice and endearing way.

Kathyate6mincepies · 19/12/2007 20:41

Course it's not the emperor's new clothes.
When I went to Midsummer House (which was doing similar molecular gastronomy type stuff - all sous-vide and foams) it was like discovering another sense - I had just no idea food could be so amazing. If the Fat Duck is really like that but better it's no wonder it has such an incredible reputation.

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 19/12/2007 20:41

I agree with you if you are from London.

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:42

sorry, Kathy, didn't see yr thread

OP posts:
santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:43

um, live in London - does that make a difference, Cliff? [fparanoid]

TenLordsaLapin · 19/12/2007 20:43

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:44

opinion, existential scream or the fact it's almost finished, lapin?

OP posts:
CarmenerryChristmas · 19/12/2007 20:45

That goose looks AMAZING

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 19/12/2007 20:46

Does your first name begin with K?

santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:46

they are all looking quite impressed, perhaps in a luvvie kind of way, but still. How much does it cost to eat at this Fat Chicken place then?

OP posts:
santaslittlepeatbogelf · 19/12/2007 20:47

Kathyate6mincepies · 19/12/2007 20:48

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 19/12/2007 20:49
