pizza.

Ready cooked chicken (the roitesserie ones) bad of salad and some nice bread? - no effort whatsoever.

dooley1 · 17/12/2007 13:32

yes! we try to meal plan but always get to Wednesday and go 'erm....'
What about something nutritous and easy like tuna pasta with loads of veg like broccoli, mushrooms and sweetcorn and a spoonful of mayonnaise
Or buy a pie in the supermaket and serve with veg and mash and gravy (great for wintery nights)

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 17/12/2007 13:43

DH not keen on pizza.

Had rotisserie chicken for lunch yesterday.

DH doesn't do tuna either.

No nice pies available in Hungarian supermarkets.

See - it's not easy is it?!!!

a stew? homemade meatballs in sauce, vegetable pasta in a tomato sauce, chiken stir fry, lasagne.

Iklboo · 17/12/2007 13:47

Chicken broccoli pasta bake?
Cook some chicken (or buy another ready cooked & chop it up), cook some pasta & some broccoli.
Bung it all in an ovenproof dish with some cheese sauce, maybe a tablespoon of salsa (doritos type one) and cook it for about 20 mins.

Pork parcels - pork steak/chop each. Put in on some foil, add sliced peppers, mushrooms, onions, spoonful of sour cream, salt & pepper. Wrap in a parcel and cook in oven at 200 for about 25 mins. Serve with rice or jacket spud

SatsumaMoon · 17/12/2007 13:49

Stirfry? Buy veg ready prepared and those noodles that you use straight from the packet...

Hate the decision-making bit too!

Works well with chicken thighs too

ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 17/12/2007 14:01

you need to meal plan!

I have a notepad file in which I list everything I have in the freezers, fridges, and write a plan and a shopping list from each week.

This weeks is -
sat - potato & pea chaat, galic and cheese naans, dhal
sun - chimichangas, mexican rice
mon - chinese mushroom and egg rice, spring rolls.
tues - cheesy veg chicken
wed - spicy stew and dumplings
thurs - meatballs and spaghetti
fri - lamb burgers and chips
sat - roast chicken
sun - chicken and aparagus risotto & garlic and rosemary foccacia
mon - makhanwala, paneer jalfrezi, bindhi and coconut

i meal plan but can not buy all the ingredients i used to buy

so the list is getting boring now

ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 17/12/2007 14:08

alice, can you not import them? Or get a good recipe book and learn the cuisine of where you are living?

OrmIrian · 17/12/2007 14:09

Yes. Totally.

Which is why my DCs eat pasta 3 times a week

I resent the way that kids have made me hate cooking. I used to love it but they have so many likes and dislikes that it's become just a chore.

Eliza2 · 17/12/2007 14:10

I hate being responsible for supper pretty well every night.

Jacket potatoes feature quite heavily on our menus. With grated cheese and ham. Or cold chicken from the Sunday roast and mayo. As long as you pile on the vegetables it's fine.

handlemecarefully · 17/12/2007 14:10

You must use the recipe section on the Waitrose website. It's fab

XAliceInWonderlandX · 17/12/2007 14:12

it is a very big meat eating country

and i try to get certain things sent over

and i do cook heaps

even have pissy tart in the fridge at the mo that i cooked

handlemecarefully · 17/12/2007 14:13

Their 'Country Pasta and Sausage' recipe is nice

vio · 17/12/2007 15:15

lamb chop, with mash and some veg. ie. green bean and carrot

Effortless really, lamb chop takes no time to Grill

vio · 17/12/2007 15:17

I love food and love cooking..so I dont get fed up actually.

PinkPussyCatInAPearTree · 17/12/2007 15:24

Can I ask what pissy tart is?!

kittylouise · 17/12/2007 15:29

I love cooking, it's just the choosing what to eat which gets to me.

Especially when I haven't done a big shop, there is nothing worth eating in the house, and I am stood in Tesco after working all day shrugging my shoulders and thinking 'waaaa!'

If dp, dd and dstepson could give me some ideas..but no. If I ask what they would like to eat I get the standard 'oh, I don't mind' response which makes me grrr!

One of these days I am going to take them at their word and cook Fray Bentos pie, tin of marrowfat processed peas and Smash (yukkkk). That'll learn 'em

vio · 17/12/2007 15:32

yeah, my dh is the same, kitty, men like to say' i dont mind'!!!

XAliceInWonderlandX · 17/12/2007 15:33

so it became pissy tart
it is very tasty

rebelmum1 · 17/12/2007 15:38

am partial to sardines on toast or poached egg on toast atm

rebelmum1 · 17/12/2007 15:44

i do a meal plan everyweek and buy accordingly - is that just me? Omlette is a good one, some weeks I have zero inclination though. Even sadder I keep all my meal plans so I have ready made lists and plans ..
