Assuming I don't give birth this afternoon (fat chance) I have just opened my diary and realised that this evening is the annual dinner for the sailing club parents thing.....

Tis posh and I am apparently expected to bring along a plate of something to serve roughly 8.

I need something impressive (ohhh yes, am not going to have the chic maman fraternity delicately nibbling my offering and exchanging raised eyebrow glances) and easy. Has to be savoury and not another quiche or couscous salad.

Plerase help me keep up with the Duponts. What should I take. Recipes/ideas please!

Make a lovely big mix of something eg chicken, spring onions, chopped peppers, slivers of carrot, courgette etc. Bulk out with a little couscous or something. Wrap in brique and fry in wok. So cripsy and lovely and serve with some chili dipping sacue

obv the chicken must be cooked and everything else very thin so cooks

I am drinking tea and reflecting.

Labour or filo pastry, labour or filo pastry, placenta or magret.....

So what did you cook in the end?

CountessDracula · 28/11/2007 12:11

omg maybe she went into labour!

sparkybabe · 28/11/2007 18:42

bump - what did you cook?

ggglimpopo · 28/11/2007 19:09

No, I didn't go into labour - I sat on my bed to think about life in general and what I was going to cook - and fell asleep. This meant that I had to cook something a)I had all the ingredients for and b)quick. I settled on the curry and took it along.

To summarise: the wine was apparently good - we sat on the boozy table and dh and the other mateys ahoy got to try more than their fair share of different bottles, the other food was crap and everything had to serve all thirty of us, there was a particularly suspect sardine salad thing that wafted past me several times, one of the other tables got to eat all the cakey things at the end and someone had the glorious barefaced cheek to provide twenty odd danones and matching teaspoons....

Twas very jolly. Next time though will do like the Duponts and just take a bloody quiche, or a family sized pack of danones and teaspoons. I will save the stuffed filo squares et al for me and mine!

Thank you all for your help. That simple curry is actually very good.
