I hate using filter machine as can't make small amount very well .

Cafetiere is okayish but not fab

Moka italian stove top thingy, well mine is a four cup one and I cannot seem to get the strength or amount just right.

Do I need to buy a single cup one,can I use 4cup one but use less coffee?

Onlr instant i'm afraid. Barely time for that, let alone real coffee!

andiemisletoe · 16/11/2007 12:08

I have a nespresso and it is fantastic and george clooney advertises it now

mylittleponey · 16/11/2007 12:10

espresso instant coffee with lots of milk.

IlanaK · 16/11/2007 12:11

I have a grinder that grinds my beans each time (expresso beans from Monmoth) then I put them into a single or double shot expresso maker. I then add boiling water to make it like an Americano. Yum Actually, everyone comments on my coffee and I think grinding the beans fresh is the key.

I use a 4 cup one sometimes and put a little less coffee in the thing maybe just over half full (and less water) but it's a bit hit and miss - I like my coffee strong so usually do an individual cup in a one cup Moka pot...I love the ritual of it all and of course the wonderful aroma !

SoupDragon · 16/11/2007 12:14

I have a great one cup filter coffee dripper. It came from Muji.

SoupDragon · 16/11/2007 12:16

I've also used this kind of thing although mine came from Whittards.

Have experimented a lot and found that a two-person moka is the best. The same amount of hot milk as coffee and you get a delicious if frothless cappuccino!

I like it!

Threadworm · 16/11/2007 12:31

This morning I had the patent Threadworm coffee swamp: strong coffee made with an Italian stove-top thingy, with a large spoonful of cinnamon/cardamom/cloves in the coffeepot and a large spoonful of cocoa powder in the cup. Topped up with whole milk.

suey2 · 16/11/2007 12:36

we now have a jura bean to cup coffee maker. It self cleans. The only thing you need to do is occasionally empty the grounds, fill up the water and the beans. It has a spout for frothing. Downside- expensive.

I used to use a stove top bubble up through the coffee thing- the 2 cup was best for me as i found the strength a little inconsistent and i could always add boiling water to tone it down.

never liked cafetiere/ instant would rather go without. Not a fan of nespresso either (sorry- i like to choose my own coffee beans and grind fresh)

MerryAnnSinglemas · 16/11/2007 14:30

thread - I used to make coffee with strong Arabic stuff that my dad brought back from Saudi with cardamom added - lovely if a litte thick and muddy !

brimfull · 16/11/2007 17:48

threadworm-never thought of adding things to the coffee!
