Not sure

My craving with DS1 was fruit and veg (esp cucumber, satusumas and watermelon) DS1 is a fruit dodger.

Has similar cravings with DS2 and he loves all fruit!

burstingbug · 11/11/2007 10:42

I went off eating peas but started eating bananas after not eating them for 12yrs.
Both boys like peas and adore bananas

RubySlippers · 11/11/2007 10:52

interesting isn't it?
I never liked spicy food before i was PG either ...

I had a craving for Rose's lime cordial, completely out of the blue as I had never had it before. Drank loads of it.

Now, my ds hates all jams and marmalades but loves Rose's lime marmalade. I'm convinced that there is a link.

amidaiwish · 11/11/2007 11:42

when pg with DD1 I craved milkshake (mostly Frijj strawberry!) and she absolutely adores milk and cheese.

my mum craved pickled beetroot when pg with me and i can eat whole jars of pickled beetroot, always loved it. i also love vinegar and don't have a sweet tooth.

so yes, i think there is a link.

RubySlippers · 11/11/2007 18:01

looks like there may be something in it then!

DS had thai green curry for lunch - definitely a chilli man

won't be long beofre he is on the Vindaloo

my mum had a thing for olives, which i adore

i had a craving for garden peas with DS, and he loves peas, with DD, it was strawberry hubba bubba, but she is not going to find out if the likes it for a long time yet !

RubySlippers · 11/11/2007 18:18

hi lulu!

Peas and strawberry hubba bubba - very different cravings with each pregnancy

with dd, i lived off advocados, having to ration myself to one a day (although occassionally i had two!) and i really did survive on them as it was all i ate with the hypersemis for months.

dd is quite fond of avocado and i will eat them occassionally but i did hate them with a passion before i was pg.

am pg again atm, and mainly want chinese things, like custard dim sum so will see in a year so if baby likes them

DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 18:39

there's always an exception....and here I am

My mum ate liquorice like it was going out of fashion when pregnant with me, and I'm less than enthusiastic about the stuff

Weegle · 11/11/2007 18:57

I had a craving for tomatoes and citrus fruit - these rank highly as some of DS' favourite foods

fuzzywuzzy · 11/11/2007 18:59

I craved pizzas (had them for every meal practically from the second trimester on. And carrots dipped in haagen daz cookies and cream....dd love pizzas and carrot sticks are her most favourite food too, she'd prolly love to eat the haagen daaz too if I let her!!

artichokes · 11/11/2007 19:01

I craved plain yoghurt. Even before I found out I was pregnant I was obsessed with the stuff. I would eat two to three large tubs a day! Sadly DD has a cows milk protein allergy so cannot touch yoghurt. Recently someone told me that there is some evidence that excessive exposure to dairy in early pregnancy is correlated with dairy allergy in babies .

fortyplus · 12/11/2007 08:52

I craved oranges. DS1 likes almost anything but isn't keen on them. DS2 won't touch them.

fortyplus · 12/11/2007 08:53

Oh... and I had a friend whose craving was for loofahs! Be a bit surprised if either of her dcs eat those!

lou33 · 12/11/2007 08:54

gosh maybe, with ds2 i craved feta, and he loves it (aged 6.5)

OracleInaCoracle · 12/11/2007 09:08

i lived on cheese and tomatoes on toast, cant stand either of them when not pg and ds LOVES them. also couldnt eat meat and ds doesnt really like meat, so definately something in it. my mum used to eat raw steak and lick coal when she was expecting me and apparently i used to lick coal when i was little and i love my steaks as rare as possible

I think on this really scientific study we can assume there is a link

Artichokes - that allergy issue must have been a shock for you

Loofahs are the most interesting craving

I craved milk, my son loves milk. I also craved green veg. He has never so much as let a broccoli spear pass his lips.

crayon · 12/11/2007 12:13

Well that's my theory too, but I have never heard anyone else express it too.

I loved sharp sharp things with DS1 and he loves sharp apples etc.

DS2 and DS3 love stodge, and so did I when I was expecting them.

crayon · 12/11/2007 13:04

Oops, rather too many 'too's

RubySlippers · 12/11/2007 13:08

lol crayon!
just remembered early on in my PG i craved sugar puffs and white bread
now i can't eat either of those things but my taste for chillis has stayed with me ...
