Herbal Teas that don't SUCK!

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 21:39

I'm pregnant so can't mainline black tea anymore.

Am disappointed with the supermarket 'selections' and don't have a Waitrose anywhere near me now.

Any suggestions for good sites to order herbal teas - they must do online orders because I'm out in the sticks.

I think Tick Tock redbush is available mail order. It's caffeine free, low in tannin and delicious IMO
Can be drunk with or without milk

Blandmum · 03/11/2007 21:41

There are none , IMHO. they all smell nice and tastle like diluted piss

foxinsocks · 03/11/2007 21:42

rooibos (or red bush) - lovely jubbly

you can get it in most supermarkets now

foxinsocks · 03/11/2007 21:43

the really foul ones are the fruit ones ewwwww

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 21:44

redbush is piss!

i saw this tasty ginger one in sainsbury's before i left edinburgh, and i stupidly bought wine instead.

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 21:44

god, fox, those fruit vile.

i need some hot drink ideas that aren't caffeine or alcohol.

foxinsocks · 03/11/2007 21:45

none of the others are tasty

I went through a major caffeine free phase and tried loads and honestly, most of them tasted just awful.

you can get caffeine free tea if it's the caffeine you are worried about?

foxinsocks · 03/11/2007 21:46

hot chocolate? (I know there might be a bit of caffeine in there but not as much as tea or coffee I would have thought?)

RubySlippers · 03/11/2007 21:46

what about fresh mint - just pour boiling water over it and let it stand for a minute or two - it is really nice

you can add sugar if you need

foxinsocks · 03/11/2007 21:46

one of my fave hot drinks was fresh lemon juice, boiling water and a spoon of honey. Delicious.

Of course, even better with whisky

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 21:47

i'm going to have to try . . . [shudder] decaf black tea.

Twinings do a nice one: chamomile, vanilla and honey. More of a bedtime thing though

Ayomi · 03/11/2007 21:53

The only one I like (as it tastes something like it smells) is Twinings blackberry and nettle. Sounds odd but is yummy

Blu · 03/11/2007 21:56

Bovril?

(you may well go yuck, but nothing can be as bad as any form of herbal tea, surely?)

uberalice · 03/11/2007 21:58

I love lemon and ginger.

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 22:02

i've got some Celestial Seasonings ones just now - Tension Tamer and Sleepytime.

they're okay.

was hoping for a little zing, however.

Redbush is not piss you cheeky thing
Everyone send her some Bovril...with a side order of Barleycup

FieryGlassSlipper · 03/11/2007 22:04

Camomile & Honey is the only one I've ever been able to drink without thinking I was drinking pee

expatinscotland · 03/11/2007 22:04

redbush is rankotastic.

it even smells like tree bark.

i don't know how people drink that stuff.

OP posts:
Marina · 03/11/2007 22:06

More for us then

Let her drink Clearspring Miso soup with things floating in it

francagoestohollywood · 03/11/2007 22:10

when pg I got addicted to fennel tea and mint tea.
I kept drinking one cup of tea and cup of coffee a day though.
