Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

Cheesy pepperoni bake last night - so tasty the DC had seconds. Could have done with something green alongside (raided the fridge, so was fine) but v good otherwise.

Just did the 3 cheese pasta bake - dp and I liked it and kids were happy to pick out the pasta and eat that Grin

We've got aubergine parmigiana & pesto ciabatta tonight. The aubergine-hating teens have bailed on us and ordered KFC so all the more for us...

Crispy Tamarind fish with rice and tenderstem broccoli (sent instead of green beans) yesterday - really enjoyed it. DS cooked and the fish was perfect, very impressed.

Absolutely love Gousto! Favourites so far are katsu fish and slaw, veggie burger in brioche bun, pad Thai, love all the spicy dishes. Not so keen on the fake bacon stuff. They’ve started including haddock in price as well as the ubiquitous basa!

Yes, the fake bacon makes our fridge stink! The smokey seasoning is overpowering. I think we’ve only had it a couple of times but didn’t make me rush to buy it or order again.

The veggie burgers on the other hand, i’m desperate to know who makes them! I’ve tried finding out but Gousto doesn’t seem to say anywhere. In over 10 years of being veggie they are the best I’ve ever eaten.

We've been really enjoying our gousto boxes but the missing ingredients are frustrating. Don't think we've had a box yet where everything has been there! The lasagne is our favourite so far. This week we had the beef goulash which was ok but nothing amazing. The best meal this week was the sweet and sour chicken - delicious!

We've had the minty lamb stew, chicken cacciatore stew and chorizo tortilla stack, with the Chinese chicken curry still to go. Haven't been particularly impressed with them this week...lamb flavours were good but I'd have liked it cooked much longer, so might try that again.

Interesting @SpamIAm because we’ve got the minty lamb - so lower temp for longer you would say?

I saw the chicken cacciatore didn’t seem to have great reviews now

We were supposed to have the Persian herby noodle soup but when I got to the fridge we had no herbs! We didn’t check when we unpacked so our fault really. I made it without and it was a bit bland.

No kale in our veggie sausage and mash but we don’t like the kale anyway. I find that it never cooks properly, even when I give it longer than it says.

Come to think of it since Christmas we have have the odd thing missing out of the box every week. We must complain to them really.

The best thing we made this week was aubergine pasta with cheesy garlic bread. Delicious, even our picky kids liked it.

We ate vegetarian and I really like their paneer dishes.

I’ve reported missing items through the app and they automatically put £2 credit to your next box. Also they once gave us a free meal (for 2) because the delivery was a day late.

@Foxhasbigsocks I guess it's tricky because it's lamb mince so that doesn't really want cooking for long, but the carrots were still firmer than I'd like them and that was with an extra 10 minutes cooking. I suppose actually that just cutting them up would solve the issue!

We’ve had the veggie sausages and sweet potatoes and kale - was pleasantly surprised at the kale, was v tasty (I did salt it when it went into the oven though). Tonight was near free sticky chilli stir fry - very tasty - and we have hoisin tofu burgers and baked sesame tofu to go - we’ve had that one before and it’s really tasty

We’ve had mixed success getting the dds to eat the gusto meals! If anyone has any sure fire kid acceptable meals they’ve had in boxes (primary age) I would be grateful

I agree with the month lamb stew. Lovely flavour but the carrots should have been cut first to cook more quickly.
