I mean really.

I feel so full and so happy and just want to be able to eat more.

Had roast chicken stuffed under the skin with lemon zest and juice, orange zest and butter.

Amazing crispy spuds and parsnips, just perfect fluffiness and crispiness.

Buttered / sugared carrots, so bad but sooooo good.

Cauliflower cheese, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Peas

Gravy.

Nothing major, but just beautiful.

I bloody love roast dinners, bloody love them

Do you think if I ate and ate and ate this baby might come out through lack of room?

I love them too, as long as I don't have to cook them and wash up the pots afterwards!

(Have you had dc3 yet?)

lomondgal · 23/09/2007 20:32

Sounds perfect! Wished I wasn't on a bloody diet!

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 23/09/2007 20:32

thomcat · 23/09/2007 20:33

Still waiting. Would love it to happen tonight but fear not.

See I don't mind cooking them. Prepping throughout the day etc. Dishwasher and Dp take care of the aftermath.

Roast dinners make me happy!

Just had a fab one cooked by dp. Lots of sprouts for ds (6) who bizarrely has a serous sprout addiction. Lots of roast potatoes for all of us, but especially for dd, who loves them cold for breakfast on Monday morning. Delicious - and SOOOO nice to sit together and eat it!

thomcat · 23/09/2007 20:34

Mmmmm creamed leeks sound yummy too.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh roasts mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

just reading your description made me hugely nostalgic for childhood roasts... fab. i love making them for my family but there's only 4 of us, and it feels all wrong, having come from a huge family.

Twiglett · 23/09/2007 20:45

explain how you get the citrus under the skin please

I'm salivating now

Lorayn · 23/09/2007 20:45

Oh gosh yes, we just had a gorgeeeeeous joint of pork plus tons of veggies (one of my first full dinners to eat in ages due to goddamn morning sickness.)
It was then followed by a delicious blackberry and apple crumble that the kids had a great time helping to make/pick fruit etc.
I was actually hoping someone could answer me a question actually, I am 99% sure the answer is yes, but can I freeze a homemade crumble???
We have tons left.

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 23/09/2007 20:47

hmm, dont know mercy, but obviously, subconciously, I would rather degrade a male chicken by shoving something up his bum than a female

thomcat · 23/09/2007 20:50

Twiggs, you get zest and butter and some juice and fresh herbs in a bowl and mix.

Then you carefully take chicken and push your hand under the skin on the breasts, being careful not to split the skin. You make some room and then you stuff in the butter mix.

Do you get what I mean?

I had chicken salad tonight and when I popped up to my mums, there was a plate of roast dinner on the side (they always freeze a plate for my uncle who lives by himself) and I almost fell to my knees in desperation to eat some!!

When I was pg, I went off ALL meat and all vegetables. I made my mum promise that the day I got discharged from having DD that I could go to her house for a big roast dinner. BEST meal I ever had (a close second was the fish and chips and mushy peas the day after my section, my first food in I cant remember, and even though it was hospital food it was lush!)

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 23/09/2007 21:04

its never going to want to come out munching on all that lovely food coming down the umbilical cord!

WideWebWitch · 23/09/2007 21:05

Dh does chicken like that, with herbed lemon butter under the skin, fab.

Today he did rare roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, parsnips, green beans, carrots, peas and gravy. Gorgeous.

Lorayn · 23/09/2007 21:06
