I can make cakes fine so no prob. there, I can't use that roll on icing to cover the cake but can make shapes etc to stick on - I make a mean buttercream or chocolate fudge icing. Any ideas please - oh and the cake is for a first birthday. Thanks!

Oh and it's for a girl

first birthday

get a teddy bear or fairy stencil (you can make one out of card if you can print one out online)

and sprinkle gaily with coloured sprinkles

put a big 1 on it

da -daaaaaa

castle?

DANCESwithTheMorningOff · 17/09/2007 18:33

8 oz icing sugar
4tblsp coca
2tblsp evaporated milk
3oz butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Melt butter and cocoa (don't be tempted to taste at this stage..it's gross!) Gradually add everything else - I use hand blender to mix to avoid lumps.

It is delicious

gawd .. give us an idea then?

a bee?
a bus?
a big number 1?
a spider?

MrsBadger · 17/09/2007 18:34

hire a 1-shaped tin
either ice white and edge with smarties
or choc fudge icing edged with white choc buttons

and stop showing off save yourself some effort

DANCESwithTheMorningOff · 17/09/2007 18:35

Girly, um flowery, butterflies, fairy that sort of thing I think.

DANCESwithTheMorningOff · 17/09/2007 18:36

Think I can figure the castle from the photo, it does look good, basic square sandwich + upside down icecream cones + girly fripperies type thing

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 17/09/2007 18:38

aha right

fairy castle it is

Twiglett · 17/09/2007 18:38

upside down ice-cream cones on mini swiss rolls stuck to square cake

icing sugar dusting

Twiglett · 17/09/2007 18:39

could use pink and white mini marshmallows as crenellations if you want

MrsBadger · 17/09/2007 18:40

pudding basin sponge stuck with meringues

DANCESwithTheMorningOff · 17/09/2007 18:40

Oh, actually looking at the pic twig sent, is it a round cake? How did you do the turrets(the bit under the cones not the cones!)
