...just seen an advert for it - saying it was good (obviously) as in healthy and releases energy slowly...any comments ?

I love pretzels dipped in Nutella.

policywonk · 30/08/2007 17:04

What's the verdict, MaryAnn?

Tinker · 30/08/2007 17:05

She'll be too busy gorging

policywonk · 30/08/2007 17:07

I was thinking that Tinker. She'll be rubbing Nutella into her face using her bare hands. Too sticky to type.

gringottsgoblin · 30/08/2007 17:07

eat it with bread sticks and its like a pimped up choc dip. you have to get enough on the breadstick so you cant tell the stick isnt sweet, but i can live with that

ChippyMinton · 30/08/2007 17:09

Nutella - yum
Might go and make some pancakes now...

aloha · 30/08/2007 17:15

Bad, evil....and far too delicious for its own good. Guess who has been eating it out of the jar with a spoon this afternoon.

PippiLangstrump · 30/08/2007 17:38

being italian I grew up on Nutella. of course it's fat and sugar but it's yummy and many worse things IMO.

nutella on digestive dunked in tea or hot milk, grissini dunked in nutella, baguette with butter and nutella (to be done only if you are a 14 yo who does three hours of sport everyday!), pancake and nutella etc

agree it's as addictive as crack, haven't given it to DD yet though

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/08/2007 17:40

I haven't opened it yet (partly because I'm eating a doughnut)

French Nutella jars have (or used to have) a flash on the label saying 'less fat than butter, less sugar than jam', which swings it for me .

MKG · 30/08/2007 18:10

Nutella and Peanut butter sandwhiches are the best.

kittylouise · 30/08/2007 18:16

How can something which tastes so good possibly be so bad? (naive)

It's best on crispy French baguette. Bad thing is that the baguettes are so long, and the jars of nutella so large, that it's quite possinble to eat about 3 feet of chocolate sandwhich in one afternoon!

Diet? What diet?

kittylouise · 30/08/2007 18:17

Sandwich I mean

DrNortherner · 30/08/2007 18:21

Oh yes we love Nutella here too. Tis a weekend treat and we have it on croissants or brioche.

Liking the thought of it on rich tea or digestives though!

We also dip strawberries in it!

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/08/2007 18:24

note to self - buy baguette or brioche tomorrow

I saw that advert too and noticed that they only mentioned it containing nuts, cocoa I think and milk. No mention at all of sugar. Which I think is misleading.
I don't buy the stuff, not cos I am a food snob or anything, but because if I want chocolately hazlenut stuff then I will ram a huge bar of Cadbury's whole nut down my throat

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/08/2007 18:53

I was just drawn to it !

CorrieDale · 30/08/2007 20:28

I am happy to stand corrected! Thank you - mind you, I'm not sure my diet will allow me to rush out and buy a pot of Nutella, not even a token one to make up for all the ones I haven't bought in the past.

Oh yes yes YES, straight out of the jar with a tea spoon! Fuck what's in it.. it tastesdivine!

When I was a kid we used to buy it in little plastic, one-person sachet things and eat it with a tiny plastic spoon. Mmmmmm

PippiLangstrump · 31/08/2007 07:41

uh yes I remember them... they were never big enough.

PippiLangstrump · 31/08/2007 07:44

hmmmm you all make me feel like dipping my spoon in the thing, unfortunately my pregnant state won't allow me to: I go off chockolate and cakes all together for nine months!! it's unbelievable isn't it? last time I made DH go and get me a bar of any chocholate 3 hours after I'd given birth and I scoffed it down.

terramum · 31/08/2007 11:55

I probably wouldn't buy it because of the Nestle connection...but the "vegetable oils" would mean I defo wouldn't as it's likely to contain Palm oils.

FlameBatfink · 31/08/2007 12:03

Nutella goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

Tis mummy's jam
