suzywong · 30/09/2004 02:03

OK now that I have permission from Lou and in order to preserve the good MNers from MM's charlatan WW recipe I am ready to spil the beans

Only it will have to come in installments, I have to take the kids to sign up with the HV so watch this space.

Oh buggeration, ds1 just threw up again (not that I am trying to put anyone off their brownies THAT I CAN'T HAVE )

Suzy, I will email you, I promise. You are much missed! I did flash you on msn yesterday but you just went "pouf!" and disappeared.

marthamoo · 30/09/2004 15:25

Ha! I killed the brownie thread with talk of sick!

suzywong · 30/09/2004 15:26

Oh no MM is it big DS or little DS?

My big DS has just woken with a nightmare waling and crying that he wants togo home!! What have we done? Or was it just a dream?

Won't stop me from eating another moo. Takes moe than that.

marthamoo · 30/09/2004 15:27

Both ds's - oh the fun to be had with a bucket

Bagpuss30 · 30/09/2004 15:27

marthamoo, you can't kill brownie talk round here I'm afraid, my ds has also been sick today although seems to have made a miraculous recovery since sw's brownies started being baked.

bran · 30/09/2004 15:35

Marthamoo, how long have you been doing WW? I have a theory that you should have a day off from WW every 2 months or so to give your metabolism a boost. My theory has no basis in science whatsoever, I want a day off and it just sounds better if you throw in the word metabolism.

How are the brownies Bagpuss?

Bagpuss30 · 30/09/2004 15:43

Don't know yet bran, shall I go and try one? might give me the energy I need to go to the post office in a bit with two grumpy children in tow.

bran · 30/09/2004 15:47

Yes, have one. If I can't have them for real at least I can have one vicariously (sp?).

A full description please, including gooeyness, chocolateyness etc.

suzywong · 30/09/2004 15:58

bagpuss, I have to go to bed now but I'll be checking in in the morning for a full report.

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 30/09/2004 16:02

OMG they're good . Very gooey and chocolatey yes. Crumbly outside but not dry which makes them better than my mum's (which are a Delia recipe). Is that OK for you bran? I think you should go and bake some, after all it is a virtual recipe from the internet, it must have no calories I'm sure .

Thanks sw, this has cheered up my very rubbishy day .

I just read your message Bagpuss, and my tummy gave a huge rumble. I'm just about to tuck into a rather boring banana instead.

I'm having some friends over for dinner after I come back from holiday, so I'll make them for that. That way I can be sure that I won't eat the whole batch. Would they be good served with Green & Black's white chocolate ice-cream do you think?

Bagpuss30 · 30/09/2004 17:59

Ooh yessssss . BTW I made mine with tesco organic plain choc and green and black's drinking choc (good excuse to buy some I think). My mum always serves hers with ice-cream which is always well received.

Also I think it works best as nine portions (only cos they are bigger!).

mrsflowerpot · 03/10/2004 14:52

thank you thank you thank you! Made these yesterday and they were truly the only redeeming feature of an otherwise cr*ppy day. Off to the bathroom to stuff some more down now

SoupDragon · 03/10/2004 15:05

I am about to go and try these now having printed off the recipe and purcheased my chocolate.

Now, do fan ovens cook faster than average?

marthamoo · 03/10/2004 15:08

Yes they do - but you can compensate by turning the temp. down a bit (I think it's 20 degrees). Can't find a temp. scrolling down...but if it's 180 then try 160?

SoupDragon · 03/10/2004 15:22

I have another technical problem with this - in the Dragon household we only have proper drinking chocolate, ie chocolate flakes. I don't think this is what the recipe calls for! I do have cocoa though. Might have to just use that.

marthamoo · 03/10/2004 15:23

Cocoa would be alright - I use cocoa for my non- suzy-brownies (sacrilege I know...but only 2 points each as opposed to 9!!!)

SoupDragon · 03/10/2004 15:24

With all the chocolate, sugar and butter in the recipe, I can't see how drinking chocolate or cocoa would make much difference!

SoupDragon · 03/10/2004 16:33

I trusted in the muddy puddle but ended up with a gooey mess That's not to say it wasn't a delicious gooey mess though!

suzywong · 04/10/2004 04:01

slightly higher oven temp perhaps next time Soupy? and the fun is in the practising.

I use drinking chocolate to lighten the real chocolate IYSWIM

THESE ARE SO GORGEOUS! Sorry to shout, but they are. I made them the other day and DH was moaning that he didn't like brownies and I was secretly glad because that would mean that they were all for me!
However, he tried one and liked it. I have just opened the tin and there is only one square left. I guess he and I are both sneaky snackers.

marialuisa · 04/10/2004 09:00

These were fantastic-although I think DD preferred the bowl scrapings !

SoupDragon · 04/10/2004 09:23

I'm not sure my health can cope with too many attempts, suzywong!! I knew in my heart that they weren't ready but took them out anyway because overcooked would have been worse
