I bet you have never had mouli, Cod. And no, it's not one of those Annabel Karmel things. It's a poncey parsnip only not as nice.

DrippingLizzie · 30/07/2007 22:04

Nowt like a bit of celeriac. Looks like a rotting brain but tastes divine mashed up with spuds.

Okra is like eating a frog with the frogspawn still in it (I imagine). Green and crunchy on the outside, slimy white goo in the middle.

Sixofone · 30/07/2007 22:12

Should we start national Vegetable Ponce Day. Everyone should try a poncey vegetable that they have never eaten before.

WallyHerbert · 30/07/2007 22:13

This is ponce city I'm outta here!

DrippingLizzie · 30/07/2007 22:15

Never had okra (isn't it also called 'Ladies Fingers'?) but bring it on as part of Vegetable Ponce Day.

BBBee · 30/07/2007 22:17

don't cut the okra before you cook it - stops the slime.

artichokes.

proper moussaka with aubergine

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/07/2007 22:19

Yes also called ladies fingers. I happily eat it, but would never go 'ooh okra, I must have it'. lol at frogspawn. Quite hard to describe how it tastes - best to just try it and decide for yourself.

treacletart · 30/07/2007 22:20

I had a plate of Samphire and hollandaise when DH and I went out the other night. Delicious. Do I win the ponciest veg award?

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/07/2007 22:20

Oh yes artichokes - we had 'chianti beef with artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes' at dd's Christening .

DrippingLizzie · 30/07/2007 22:22

I'm sure Vesta used to do a Chianti beef with artichoke hearts boil-in-the-bag...
