Right ladies, new thread, let's get the rules set down so we can get baking

ooh cupcakes, I want in, though my cupcakes are probably not in league in the decoration stakes they never seem to last long so must taste good . It would be good practice for the cupcake stall I promised to do for ds pre-school fete.

kickassangel · 20/06/2007 10:45

ll - thanks for link. i'm at school atm so won't try opening that thread right now!

i think i shall let dd & her friend decorate some cakes this afternoon. too much chaos in my house atm with floors being repaired for me to do something!

Peachy · 20/06/2007 11:53

Right!

I am going shopping soon and that's the only time I can go before the close date as I will be at BIBIC having ds3 assessed.

Please pick a theme that will fit what I have (er- songs, summer, MN Names, something like that) Or i'll be out and I don't wanna be out. I ahven't entered a baking competition in years (although last time I own and the other lady I knew who was entered got wella rsey as she was a baker by profession LOL- but it wasn't me, it was the recipe)

Thank you!

kickassangel · 20/06/2007 12:46

peachy - it could be days before we decide a theme - i suspect people will make their cakes, then a theme will be made to encompass them all! go for the summer/song thing.
i have an idea, butNO chance of getting it done in time due to limited kitchen facilities. i shan't be posting any pics of the current state of the kickass kitchen!

Peachy · 20/06/2007 13:02

Ah that's OK then, can only get to shops once a week and it ahs to be today

cheers

kickassangel · 20/06/2007 13:16

i shall beat people around the head witha damp tea towel until they agree you can have the simmer or song theme (actually, quite like song idea)

ChippyMinton · 20/06/2007 13:39

Hi cupcakers:

Shall I take a unilateral decision and endorse the SUMMER/SONG theme?

Yes i shall - otherwise we'll be dithering all week

That's official then. LL you'd better get on with the rosettes
Gonna skim the thread and see who volunteered to be judge...

OP posts:
ChippyMinton · 20/06/2007 13:46

Judges: francagoestohollywood and tigi have volunteered and are duly appointed.

Cool

Slubberdegullion · 20/06/2007 15:18

Shitten Shepherds (my new phrase of exclamation and disappointment btw)

Have just spent 2 days scouring the shops for decorations for my cupcakes, and get back here to find a bloomin' theme had been picked.

Personally I think the queen and winner of the last comp. should have been consulted.

Well my entries with be related to summer in a roundaboutish knights-move-thinking kind of way.

And that greensleeves...anyway she can be disqualified before sunday? Could someone test her urine for illegal cake stimulants?

Greensleeves · 20/06/2007 16:22

I have a definite advantage, I was given some exquisite new cake decorations for my birthday at the weekend [gloat]

bakedpotato · 20/06/2007 16:24

when you have finished the great bake-off, will you do a craft competition? Something made with old washing up bottle perhaps?
I saw entries for this at a village show recently, and oh how I roffled.

Peachy · 20/06/2007 16:41

we have had many a craft comp on here you know, though that side of MN has slipped a lot these days.

Don't village shows always ask for a miniature garden on a baking tray? And best drawing by a three year old on the theme of environmental regeration?

(sdly that last example is a genuine one!)

bakedpotato · 20/06/2007 16:48

As well as washing up bottle 'creations', I saw 'Best Scene Made with Reclaimed Materials' and 'Best Hand-Made Doll with Clothes'.
I love the garden ones with mirrors for ponds.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 20/06/2007 17:19

Surely there need to be Lemon Drizzle Cake and Chocolate Brownie competitions judged by MarsLady and suzywong respectively?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 20/06/2007 19:36

GGM - i think you'll find that I would win the LDC comp!!

GreatGooglyMoogly · 20/06/2007 19:55

VERY Impressive pmd!

UCM · 20/06/2007 20:18

Dont start with crafting, you will end up spending thousands producing cards that no one wants to buy.

See my old website here

I haven't made cards for bleeding months. But I spent a fair few bob setting all of this up. Luckily I sold everything I made and will never make a card again.

UCM · 20/06/2007 20:18

For sale that is.

Peachy · 20/06/2007 20:31

Why not UCM?

I only make ones I need these days actually- no idea why. It just got all a bit expensive and all that, although I still do a bit of scrapping.
