Who wants to enter here please. This will be fab. Now we have to find some judges. I think we should put thread in chat and ask someone to judge based on their credentials Obviously they will be only looking at a pic not tasting. We need rules as well??? Good idea or not.

OP posts:
Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:12

Sod the bloody cakes it's the flowers I'm grrr at

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:13

Sorry, I can't do name changing, I have only just managed to post on here after nearly two years!

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:13

namechangers...Mners in cahoots.....

Its all intrigue, mirrors and smoke here I can tell you.

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:15

ahaaaaaar Bibis, thats just the sort of thing a devlish namechanger would say

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:15

If it came down to votes you would have my second one Slubber (after Tigi of course) .

I can assure you I don't do intrigue

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:16

What does it take for you to believe me? I PROMISE I aint a name changer

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:17

Flattery will get you somewhere in improving my opinion of you Bibis

MrsFish · 17/06/2007 20:18

I'm jealous of those sweet peas too mine are really struggling even though they are in a very sheltered back yard. Planted them at the end of April and they still aren't even 6 inches tall yet

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:19

Have just looked on your profile, gosh you are young (I am just a few years older than you) and you music selection is unique

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:21

Yes, keep going.

If you want you can comment on my footwear and highly polished kitchen table in the cake photos. .

MrsTweedy · 17/06/2007 20:22

The sweat peas have only taken off in the last week or so with the alternating weather of rain/muggy days.

I won't even deign to comment on the accusations of name-changing - pah!

Howver, I thought we could use any jam as long as it was red, and the judges marked down on stinginess?

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:25

I'm still watchig you MrsT

3rd mention of jam now.......

MrsTweedy · 17/06/2007 20:26

(It's made with balsamic vinegar, it's very good...)

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:26

Have just been on picture trail Slubber and I have to say your complexion is to die for - yellow fever i would say.

Your floor and surfaces look a lot cleaner and clearer than ours

Bibis · 17/06/2007 20:27

Sadly the rabbits have taken a shine to my sweetpeas, I am searching for a ferret man to take a shine to the rabbits

kickassangel · 17/06/2007 20:28

i'm desperately resorting to abotage tactics (although fully aware that this could backfirs)
new pics on profile - i seem to have a bizarre prob with pic from effort no. 1 - it keeps uploading a pic from a diff folder instead of the cake in all the pink stuff!
sahll have to ask dh but he will mutter darly & take over the computer so may not mention it tonight.

kickassangel · 17/06/2007 20:30

thread hijack - what kind of flooring is it slubber? is it karndean by any chance?
hijack over

re :white raspberries. do they not exist? white peaches & cherries do. but jam made from them does not look like butter icing

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:33

Nice KAA,

is that mild zittage I spot there?

I cannot believe how much I want that Rosette.

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 20:35

KAA re floor, they are beige tiles. That is all I know (I didn't put them in). They need a bastard lot of mopping is something I do know.

kickassangel · 17/06/2007 20:59

ok, just investigating flooring for new bathroom & we can't have tiles. think i need a new thread about decorating stuff somewhere.

kickassangel · 17/06/2007 21:04

UCM - do you have any books left from the book swap thingy - if yes, could you pop over to the current thread & have a look?

Issy · 17/06/2007 21:10

Some points of detail please Ladies.

Slubber: Using the HFW Scientific Method of Egg-Weighing, 7" or 8" tins? I note that the sainted Delia calls for 7" tins but these are almost unobtainable now. Although perhaps I should press on in my search for them on the grounds of nostalgic value.

Mrs Tweedy: Have your sweet peas been particularly prey to insect attack this year and, if so, what have you used to treat them.

What a sensible, up-lifting and useful thread.

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 21:13

With the HFW recp. using 2 eggs, I have been using my new 7" tins from Lakeland.

(Don't touch their bacoliner thingmys with a barge pole, bloody hideous nightmare)

kickassangel · 17/06/2007 21:15

slubber - i thought you sorted that by cutting thm to shape?

i must confess, i'm seriously considering new tins now - my ones are over 15 years, very thin & with no teflon!

Slubberdegullion · 17/06/2007 21:17

Nope, they are shoved right at the back of my 'items related to baking' cupboard. I returned to the cake release product which is fab and doesn't involve me cutting out paper or trimming anything.
