Cut them up and stick em in!

Hulababy · 24/05/2007 16:49

Cut them up and put them in. I never cook them first. If the skins are particularly thick or grubby I sometimes peel.

juicychops · 24/05/2007 16:50

thanks

i must sound so stupid!!

cut them up and stick them in, fry them off with the onions. aubergine is nice too.

ELR · 24/05/2007 17:27

if kids are fussy you can grate them in, i always grate into pasta just before its done then add pesto and feta

NannyL · 24/05/2007 21:21

i have a magimix and stick onions carrot (unpeeled) courgette and pepper in it...

I whizz it a bit then soften it all in oil for a few mins befroe adding the meat!

Its yummy and the kids dont know its there.. so fussy 1 year old actually then eats some veg!

moondog · 24/05/2007 21:22

I make courgette and wlanut loaf.It is heavenly. One of the few things I utterly lose control eating.

bristols · 24/05/2007 21:24

Any chance of the recipe, moondog? Have a load of cougettes waiting for an exciting end in the garage.

Aitch · 24/05/2007 21:26

yuck. i'd concentrate on making things that actually taste nice (such as a courgette and walnut cake) than crow-barring them into recipes that already have a good amount of tomato, celery, onion and carrot. someone (oh okay, it was furball... ) suggested putting cauliflower into spag bol the other day and i nearly heaved...

Aitch · 24/05/2007 21:28

off the top of my head, griddled courgette, mint, feta and broad bean salad with loads of olive oil is heavenly.

moondog · 24/05/2007 21:28

I agree Aitch.Hate dustbine meals.
That slad sounds great.
iI saute courgettes with cumin, oinon and garlic and then add lemin juice and crumbles fetta when at room temp.

Aitch · 24/05/2007 21:29

yum. how many courgettes to make 3 cups do you reckon? about 4?

moondog · 24/05/2007 21:30

Probably.
Good big 'uns too.

bozza · 24/05/2007 21:32

What is a dustbine meal?

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 21:34

cauliflowere into spagh bol? (faints)

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 21:36

But you can add courgette to carbonara: dice them and fry them with bacon bits (if you're not vegeterian) and garlic then, when pasta is ready, add the beaten egg and lots of grated cheese (pref pecorino, but that's my opinion)

moondog · 24/05/2007 22:34

lol dustbin I mean.
Everything inthere.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 24/05/2007 22:35

Courgette in carbonara?

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????

moondog · 24/05/2007 22:39

Quite.
In that cae it isnt a carbonara.

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 23:04

I'm Italian and I can do whatever I want to my carbonara.

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 23:05

And of course it's not a cabonara anymore, but I was trying to explain. just like pesto with sundried tomatoes.

Chopster · 24/05/2007 23:24

courgette and aubergine in spag bol is lovely! I don't put celery and carrot in mine

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 24/05/2007 23:25

Sorry Franca, of course you can do what you want to your carbonara. I love it, the courgette just seemed like guilding the lily IMHO. You should see how badly I bastardize a gratin dauphinoise...

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 23:34

Sorry just realized that sounded a bit harsh.
now tell me everything about that gratin douphinoise...
