I've actually stopped caring about food

Twiglett · 26/04/2007 16:25

I really have

I'm not sure I ever cared particularly that much

but then that's from a background of me enjoying cooking so have quite a good and varied diet of fresh food and lots of fruit and vegbut honestly couldn't tell you last time I read a label

it just seems so nonsensical to worry about it

and I'm quite happy for them to have biscuits or crisps or sweets too or a pizza from Iceland (woodburned) or ice-creams like Fab (which I'm sure were invented by the antithesis of MN foodies)

anybody care to join me in this dim and dingy corner of Mumsnet where most other posters believe we're going straight to hell?

yes it does mock the afflicted

but in this case the afflicted are upper middle class twits so you probably won't mind

we cooked it up yesterday and are having fun with it

DavidGest · 26/04/2007 21:44

HEYA! Franny! There you are, I bin looking for you all over this joint. I don't know what side of the food fence I'm on. I eat everything. I even ate my car. I'm a really crazeeeee guy. I'd probably eat the food fence

FrannyandZooey · 26/04/2007 21:44

oh and Bruno is in it! Do we ever still hear things about Bruno?

FrannyandZooey · 26/04/2007 21:45

LOL at DG

thank you kind people

am too polite to tell rest to fuck off

Oblomov · 26/04/2007 21:46

LOL at DG stalking F&Z

SherlockLGJ · 26/04/2007 21:48

F&Z

One would hope that you would not tell the rest to Fuck Off. You have not had the same provocation.

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 21:49

I have great plans for Mrs Codding

I think we shall auction off MN Celebrity Guest Appearances. For example, for a mere £5 donation to Mile for Maude, we could work in Franny, a plucky but frankly pitiable young lentil-weaver who attempts to canvass Mrs Charrington-Dix for the Labour party on her own doorstep (I sent her off with a flea in her ear, I can tell you. doesn't she know that Rupert was a PPC for South Snoring in 1997?)

lucy5 · 26/04/2007 21:50

I think Twiglett actually is voicing a sentiment that lots of Mumsnetters are feeling. Not necessarily about food but lots of topics. I have actually wanted advice recently and not asked for it as I know weaning is such a touchy subject now, as is breastfeeding and grammar to name but a few. I think that that is a shame.

nailpolish · 26/04/2007 21:51

"crash in and take offense"

FrannyandZooey · 26/04/2007 21:51

LGJ I don't know I kind of feel I might be warming up to it in one or two cases

PPH the LABOUR PARTY??? Not since about 1993

nailpolish · 26/04/2007 21:52

pmsl @ davidgest tho'

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 21:54

excuse me madam, are you attempting to exercise editorial control? are you? because if you don't watch it I'll have you canvassing for UKIP

DavidGest · 26/04/2007 21:56

Hey are you like a real Princess? You could come on my great TV show? Can you samba?

FrannyandZooey · 26/04/2007 21:59
PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 21:59

Funny you should mention it David, but I was taught to Samba by the Great Pedro Romero Hermosa de Mendosa himself in the ballroom of my very own palace, in the summer of 1991.

Those were the days

electra · 26/04/2007 22:01

hmm - shame this kicked off.

Twiglett, I agree with your postings and imo you are not the one with a chip on your shoulder.

DavidGest · 26/04/2007 22:03

Shake-it Princess. He's that Russian guy right?

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 22:04

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 22:07

right this thread has hit rock bottom

night all!

Aloha · 26/04/2007 22:08

I like this David person. He can stay.

Twiglett · 26/04/2007 22:13

the 'oh fuck off' was a generic expression of utter frustration and not specifically directed at any one person .. more directed at the way this thread had to be hijacked and made personal .. and not even by the one poster I had mentioned by name .. which was a joke patently .. and if moondog complains I'll apologise to her

you hadn't even crossed my mindspace F&Z .. sorry

this was lighthearted as a thread

and at heart I like you F&Z, and Greeny knows I like her .. but its so feckin' frustrating this 'how very dare you' attitude

ITS JUST NOT ABOUT YOU .. its about me and actually some other MNers sharing a joke about us being less than perfect

it is easy for the organic / additive free / read every label foodies to take the high ground on this issue ... we are all aware that this is probably the healthiest approach .. so you're right .. so maybe we have guilt (albeit misplaced and over-egged) over the issue

but for once I'm embracing the fuckin' guilt and saying 'look at me, I do this, do you?'

if one sees oneself as always being right and spending time 'educating others' who could dare question you? especially when one hold that moral highground .. we are supposed to be liberal and accepting of diversity on this site but sometimes, and more frequently, that seems only to be if we agree with the vociferous minority

sometimes we just need to see that there are others like us out there, doing the same kind of thing and surviving

sorry if that offended anyone

Twiglett · 26/04/2007 22:16

(that took forever to write and post and patently the thread has digressed since)

PrincessPeaHead · 26/04/2007 22:17

(uh twiggy I'd sorted it actually)
