Yes I love everything about food!
I went to Italy for the first time 2 years ago - we stayed in Tuscany. The food...wow.

foodie456 · 04/01/2018 23:19

I love Italy we went to Rome but found a amazing taxi driver who drove us to the outer places and oh my god the food!!

This summer we stayed in Aljezur famous for the black pork now that was so different and really beautiful..

Do you love to cook too?

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 04/01/2018 23:27

Yes love cooking...particularly things I haven't cooked before. I'd say I'm reasonably good, but my best friend is really excellent. But then she's half french half Italian.
Have you read the book 'flavour thesaurus'? I recommend!

MissHemsworth · 04/01/2018 23:33

Hello foodie here also! My fave is also Italian as well as French. Reasonable cook (I do it for a living) I like to think, I do also enjoy it. Wish I had more time (& a bigger kitchen!) to experiment & rifle through recipe books.

foodie456 · 04/01/2018 23:49

Hi all!

No not read that book will check it out thank you! Have you tried Anna Del Conte book at all keep meaning to pick up but never get round to it.

My partners half Italian but doesn't eat anything really unless it's plain (I've questioned wether his really Italian lol) but me and my son 8 try everything and he likes to try new things I've cooked plus have friends asking me for help and ideas so hope that's good!

But I think you can never know enough about food!!

Plus my family are Irish so my portions could always feed the 5000

Another foodie here, love travelling and eating local food as well as experimenting with recipes and making it my own.

ny20005 · 05/01/2018 08:35

Went to America during the summer & 1/3 of my photos were food lol

MissHemsworth · 05/01/2018 08:41

Would love to go to America for the food!

ny20005 · 05/01/2018 08:46

It was amazing. Staying with family so I could mooch round the supermarkets. My sil took me to an amazing Mexican supermarket & I was taking photos like a crazy person lol

foodie456 · 05/01/2018 11:15

Lol I'm lethal for taking food pictures everyone knows to let me take a picture first.

I wish there was a meet up for foodies a lot of places do pop up restaurants for groups in America and I know a lot of Europe do groups that meet up and cook different dishes from the same book and have a feast!

Not much info for anywhere in the Uk it's either a lot of money to join anything or no much happening locally Confused

I'm on a Facebook group & we have weekly cooking challenges, arrange cookathons for different chef's & arrange local meet ups

I've made some really good friends on it & we all love food

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 05/01/2018 12:50

Ha yes whenever anyone goes on holiday when they come back I'm always like "what was the food like?"

Chewbecca · 05/01/2018 13:31

Hello my people!

Just taking a mumsnetting break from cooking dinner & a cake for this evening, other jobs on the menu today include:

-making a reservation at a local (fabulous) restaurant that's just announced a 'raw chef' night, i.e. the young junior chef is taking over the kitchen for the evening
-continuing to research food walking tours in Iceland (we did similar in Copenhagen this summer & it was fab)

  • setting a date for friends to come round for a feast, so will be menu planning for that soon (will be vegan)

So much thinking about food going on here today!

I'm a fan of trying out Michelin starred restaurants too & am often to be found browsing their locations & menus. DS sounds like yours Sarah, chateaubriand is his favourite (I buy them from Donald Russell to cook at home).

Love cooking and eating too. I love middle eastern and Indian food especially but enjoy Italian, French anything really!

6 weeks pregnant at the moment and the thought of anything other than plain carby food is turning my stomach.

foodie456 · 05/01/2018 14:55

@ny20005 would love to be part of a group like that is it a local thing?

@Chewbecca sounds like you have your work cut out but good to keep busy I love having something to focus on. No one really appreciates the local ingredients sourced or good food here just as long as they like it lol

Good afternoon ladies, as you will see from my username I am a complete foodie also. My wife and I run a spiritual retreat called the Healing Sanctuary and I am just completing my first book, "The Ultimate book of Shepherd's Pies". Can I ask all you foodies here, who likes Shepherd's Pie please? (or Cottage Pie or Veggie version). I am trying to connect with people and get gauge the interest for my book. Thanks, Mark.

foodie456 · 05/01/2018 15:21

@ShepherdsPieGuy I'm a cottage pie girl with a crispy top!

So is the book different Shepard's pie recipient? Where did your love for it come from?

OP posts:
foodie456 · 05/01/2018 15:22

@ShepherdsPieGuy recipes not recipients

OP posts:
ShepherdsPieGuy · 05/01/2018 15:22

Hi SarahjConner, Not sure if this will help, but Shepherds Pies are a great family favourite, very economical and quick to make. My basic recipes take just 30 mins or so to cook and you can make enough to cover the next days meals also, saving time and effort. I'd be happy to send you a recipe if you wish?

ny20005 · 05/01/2018 15:56

@foodie456

It's 'what's for dinner tonight mum
?'

We're all over the uk but girl that started it's in Belfast & there's quite a few of us in Scotland too
