75g unsalted butter
3 eggs
75g caster sugar
125ml lime juice (about 4 limes)
zest from 1 lime

Melt butter, add all other ingredients, whisk to a custard over low heat. Let cool. Fill a sterilized 350ml jar, keep in the fridge.

PestoEasterMonster · 26/03/2007 21:11

Califrau, I love your receipe, but could you please explain what is Confectioner's Sugar? Thank you

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 21:11

Make limeade? I got 16 lemons in my fruit box this week so we made lemonade like this:

1 cup sugar warmed with 1 cup water, mix with 1 cup juice and dilute with 6 cups chilled water.

They are also very good in wnaky baskets

lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:12

gorgeous , wabbit ! thanks x

and thanks all for your lovely recipes, have given 6 to my neighbour who just popped in, so only 37 to deal with now !

Ohhh, I haven't had a wnaky basket in AGES...

Isn't Confectioners Sugar icing sugar?

Excellent and worthwhile purchase: I bought a set of measuring "cups" so now when my lovely auntie sends me American cookbooks, I can actually use the damned things!

Thank you! I have saved your recipe and will be attempting it with my dds the next time we have a rainy afternoon (probably during the Easter hols).

RustyBear · 26/03/2007 21:18

Lulu - you have a surfeit of surfeits!
You've only just finished the cheese - and there was something else before that iirc?

littleEasterlapin · 26/03/2007 21:20

Confectioners sugar = powdered sugar = icing sugar. Honest.

(I was a fake American for 4 years, so I Know These Things )

lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:21

there was the yoghurt and cheese double combo surfeit, rusty !

ace tip re the wnaky baskets, i am soooo into heuristic play !

could you make mars' lemon drizzle cake but with limes???

littleEasterlapin · 26/03/2007 21:22

?????? Lulumama?

Is that like voyeuristic play? And where do the limes come into it!

magicmummy · 26/03/2007 21:27

Key Lime Pie - Mmmmm Delish !!!
Ginger nut biscuits crushed up and added to a little melted butter and pressed into a flan case. Put in fridge to set.
1 tin of condensed milk, 1 tub of double cream and the juice and grated rind from about 4 or 5 limes (depends how limey you like it). Mix together and put on top of biscuit base. Save a little of the grated rind to sprinkle over the top. Put back in fridge to set.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 21:28

Lulu if you are near me I will take them off your hands, seriously

I am all out of heuristic citrus

(LL look here - like BLW, MN is a little hotspot of heuristic loveliness )

lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:29

littleEasterlapin · 26/03/2007 21:33

Yeah, I Googled it - I must be a genius in the baby rearing department as I do that naturally... (DS just plays with the contents of my handbag and anything he can find in the kitchen ).

lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:34

DD;s fave is the egg slicer, which she plays like a mandolin!

littleEasterlapin · 26/03/2007 21:36

Current faves for us - egg whisk, large metal bowl, wooden spoon and the plastic lid for a party pack of Mini Cheddars (which he and his little mate were fighting over yesterday! )

Remind me why we spend so much money on toys...

lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:37

we have an egg whisk, stacking measuring cups, assorted wooden spoons, egg slicer, melon baller, and salad servers ! often she involves the rabbit by posting things through her cage bars !!

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/03/2007 21:38

have not bought DD a toy for over almost a year !

I have Tickle Me Elmo TMX in a box upstairs for his birthday. The box alone reduces him to hysterical giggles
