well do you reckon that alcohol should be reclassified as a dangerous drug..more dangerous than lsd or ecstacy

I am surprised about the view of LSD actually but maybe it relates to the criteria as it is unlikely to cause dependence but then imo you don't need to take it many times to have detrimental effects

also surprised that alcohol is worse than tobacco

and that cannabis is still not so bad as I thought strong evidence linking it with schizophrenia was gaining ground

LSD can be damaging yes, but fundamentally its not dangerous as such.

BassMama · 27/03/2007 00:49

BTW i know a girl who dies after taking GHB. And its fourth from the bottom.

And many people that I know (and myself) take cocaine regularly. And its second from the top.

All drugs are dangerous in one way or another, putting them in 'order' like that is really pointless.

BM - it is a bit daft..but there is a current demand for league tables....all drugs are potentially dangerous, yes. it depends on who is taking them, how, who with, for what purpose, how experienced they are, who they bought from etc...and wether they are prepared to do sharesy!

I listened to the news the other day with interest. In my late teens, my boyfriend's best friend used cannabis regularly (we all did).

He ended up in a mental hospital, diagnosed with schizophrenia. Whether or not he had a predisposition to it we'll never know, but it did make me think. He didn't know who we were when we went to visit him in hospital

Earlgrey- I have just finished a Mental health placement- I would say that the majority of the young men we saw with MH problems were suffering from schizoprenia and pychosis brought about by Cannabis.

Im not talking mild symptoms either- many of these men were inpatients on a psychiatric ward.

An explanation of how growing flowers can give someone a terminal disease like lung cancer, please?

BassMama · 27/03/2007 16:17

the cancer caused by smoking cannibis comes from the tobacco it is mixed with..

Although lets remember that tobacco is also a plant!

is lsd a lot milder these days then?

OP posts:
BassMama · 27/03/2007 16:47

Think most chemical drugs are milder these days..

I have also stopped smoking weed about 6 months ago (smoked almost daily for 8 years, apart from when i was pregnant) as i was having panic attacks which i dont think were related (still have them actually) but having a panic attack when stoned is MUCH worse so i gave it up.

On the depression front - all drugs make it worse as the comedown is pretty depressing anyway, but if you are already depressed it is ten times worse. BUT the drugs make you feel better at the time. hence addiction!

As for GHB - i am shocked that it is so low down the list. It is used for date rape and is AMAZINGLY easy to OD on.

well i think strength of any illegal drug is random

i knew someone at university..a long time ago..who manufactured lsd in the lab and most of it they made up to tabs when tripping..hence it was extremely random and could either have absolutely no effect as they missed that tab or a lethal dose or just sufficient to blow you apart for a few months

I'm not sure how this aspect is measured in the table produced at least alcohol and cigarettes in this country are measured in quality and quantity
