potato peeler

aDad · 17/01/2007 18:01

ditto

Lakota · 17/01/2007 18:02

Cut into rounds then hack round the edges with a big knife

aDad · 17/01/2007 18:02

if roasting, some people prefer to leave the skin on and just pull it off afterwards

Tutter · 17/01/2007 18:04

i've given up on them

life's too short

smeeinit · 17/01/2007 18:09

Roast it in the skin for an hour or so and then peel the skin off when a bit cool
so much easier

I only ever roast them. Scrape insides out and mash with butter.

nulnulcat · 17/01/2007 18:14

buy it ready peeled and chopped from supermarket so all i have to do is cook it!

hunkermunker · 17/01/2007 18:15

Use a y-shaped peeler - piece of piss then.

smeeinit · 17/01/2007 20:10

littleducks · 17/01/2007 20:17

in read online somewhere to microwave for a min then cut long top bit off round then peel, it works if you let it cool down after it comes out microwave otherwise you get scraped burnt fingers

suzycreamcheese · 17/01/2007 20:17

peeler -sharp- vegetable; mine is more u - shaped..
with sharp bit along top

takes no time to do..i half the butternut squash before, easier to handle then or only need half..

smeenit..you asked how to peel bns easily?
is it not a bit lazy to buy it already done? who did it, and did they wash their hands? you dont know do you?
its quite easy w/peeler type thing..

snowleopard · 17/01/2007 20:51

I cut in half, roast it then get the flesh out with an ice cream scoop.

pointydog · 17/01/2007 20:52

I cut the beast into quarters lengthways and then peel each quarter with me ol' potater knife. Don't find it that much of a problem.

Do you have softy girly hands or something?

suzycreamcheese · 17/01/2007 21:58

pointydog..lol the beast!

oh, and are you grizzly adams?

EmmyLou · 17/01/2007 22:11

I have no problems so long as I'm using mt Good Grips peeler (the central, horizontal bladed one). Just pin the bugger down on the chopping board and peel from top to bottom - it comes off in lovely long strips.

pointydog · 17/01/2007 22:23

no, suzy, grizzly palms

taffy101 · 17/01/2007 22:34

I wash it, chop it up, boil it then peel it when cool enough. But maybe lose nutrients boiling it, perhaps should roast it after all!

suzycreamcheese · 17/01/2007 23:05

pointydog..sounds itchy on palms...grizzly paws?
