foxyjane I know what ovened eggs are but tell me more about ovened pancakes! Pancakes are a Saturday thing here. I make my own with oatbran egg & milk to try make it healthier & tried kids with half flour half oatbran yesterday & got away with it! Grin

Also breakfast cake sounds interesting.

ishouldcocoa taking note!

Stealthsquiggle · 01/06/2015 08:57

Oh. I forgot cake Blush

When I make cakes there is often "spare cake" (trimmings). This is deemed to be fair game for breakfast. My mother is appalled by this, but actually I think homemade un-iced cake is no less healthy than a lot of the other options.

madamginger · 01/06/2015 09:17

Cereal here, we have a choice of wheetabix, frosties, coco pops, Cheerios and cornflakes. They also get a small glass of apple or orange juice.
Sometimes I offer eggs at the weekend but not always
They are 8,6 and 4.

NickiFury · 01/06/2015 09:32

Dd - Two slices wholemeal toast, banana and orange juice. Every single day for about four years.

Ds - boiled eggs with wholemeal toast and orange juice or sausage, egg and toast, or cheese and ham toasted sandwich. He likes a cooked breakfast but if we are in a hurry then it's Cheerios with semi skimmed milk.

VolumniaDedlock · 01/06/2015 09:35

glass of milk on waking
toast or porridge or fruit and fibre with a glass of juice
no variation, ever
i am generally a fairly talented and creative cook, but not before 8am.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 01/06/2015 13:57

lilac that's a very good tip re oatbran pancakes, thanks! I' grain-free but I haven't the mental energy to do the same with DD so I just cut on wheat whenever I can and oats are lesser evilGrin

AmericasTorturedBrow · 03/06/2015 06:21

Porridge on Monday, pancakes on saturday and/or sunday, t-f usually toast with peanut butter/marmite/bagel and cream cheese and jam/quesadilla and baked beans, all washed down with a smoothie

EmGee · 05/06/2015 16:17

Stealth - agree wholeheartedly.

Mine don't have particularly healthy breakfasts by many standards:

Cheerios/weetabix/shreddies or toast and honey

I bake a few times a week so they like having banana (with dark choc bits) muffins/banana bread or maybe flapjacks. Now and again, I make bread (generally shove some chocolate chips in that). I never mind them having it for breakfast as I know exactly what is in it/how much sugar etc - even if it does have chocolate in it!!

In an ideal world, I would love to say they have porridge (only eat oats in flapjack form), blueberries or avocado and salmon on oatcakes.

DollieMum · 05/06/2015 19:30

In a rush morning: fruit and yoghurt
Normal morning: fruit/toast or fruit/cereal
Lazy/Weekend morning: beans/hoops and toast/omelette (veg or cheese), hash browns and bacon with beans!

Weetabix and fruit salad
Boiled eggs and toast
Hot cross buns, egg and fruit salad
Porridge and a banana
Bacon and eggs

School starts at 8.30 and lunch break isn't until 1.45 so he needs something filling or he gets ravenous!

Sigma33 · 09/06/2015 07:39

Toast and Nutella, glass of milkshake.

Otherwise she wouldn't eat anything.

Yoghurt and piece of fruit for school snack, and in general she loves fruit & veg. I choose my battles...

ChocolateBreakfastBalls · 09/06/2015 07:44

Cereal of choice. Usually something vile and sugar laden/chocolatey. With a piece of fruit, toast if they want it, and fresh juice/a smoothie. Eldest two also take those breakfast biscuit things to school for mid morning snack, and the small two have fruit/breadsticks/cheese at 10.30 ish.

MrsFrankRicard · 01/07/2015 21:44

Weetabix, weetos or porridge on a school day.
At the weekend it's sometimes a pain au chocolat or a croissant with jam and a cup of tea, not healthy but oh well.

ChrisQuean · 01/07/2015 21:59

Porridge with maple syrup, brown toast with butter and Marmite. That's the norm. With water or milk.

Sometimes Rice Krispies, buttered crumpets, scrambled eggs.

They'll eat a full English, but only if we are out for brunch. Because I'm too tired to make it.

pourmeanotherglass · 01/07/2015 22:06

DD1 leaves the house at 7:30 before the rest of us surface. She normally gets herself a giant bowl of cereal. DD2 prefers bread or toast with chocolate spread.
At the weekend, we have more time, so often have a lie-in then have something hot/brunchy.

girliefriend · 01/07/2015 22:15

My dd 9yo is not a big fan of breakfast and if left to own devices doesn't seem to get hungry until 10am ish.

However breakfast is not optional so before school she normally has toast and honey with a glass of milk, if not toast than weetabix.

On the wend she is allowed 'treat cereal' current favourite is chocolate pillows Hmm

TheScottishPlay · 01/07/2015 22:26

DS 11 has cereal (Weetabix, porridge, shreddies), yoghurt and toast on schooldays.
Coco Pops, Croissant, bacon roll, fairy toast or similar at weekends.

Loafline · 01/07/2015 23:30

I aviod cereal I only buy it when we have guests staying over.
Anthing really, from toast with lemon curd, cheese, ham, bacon & eggs, fried potatoes, potato bread, leftovers from dinner, yogurt - flavoured and plain, pancakes, bagels, fruit, hot chocolate, porridge, eggs anyway.
At weekends sometimes a bit more like brunch - kedgeree, turkish chilli eggs with yoghurt. Huevos racheros.

LineRunner · 01/07/2015 23:34

We went for boiled eggs and wholemeal toast during GCSEs, but back to bloody Weetos now.

Sgtmajormummy · 01/07/2015 23:47

Milk and biscuits every day.
Plus toast and jam at the weekend. DS occasionally drinks tea with me,but it's just an excuse to get the sugarbowl out!

thiskiwicanfly · 02/07/2015 00:14

Attempting to get DD (11) to eat breakfast but it's a battle - she's like me and would rather eat about 10.30.

Currently we are trying to sit down and eat together in the morning so it's either Weetbix with milk and a little sugar or a boiled egg or two, occasionally toast.

She thinks she likes pancakes but when I make them eats about 1, if I'm lucky, and then abandons the effort...

Still - she'll eat fruit till it comes out her ears and is pretty good with veg over the rest of the day so I figure why fight when I'm grumpy anyway (I'm not a morning person either).

dietcokeisgreat · 04/07/2015 08:31

breakfast is a bit of a nightmare here - i struggle to get ds (just 4) to eat anything currently. Used to eat cereals (weetabix, bran flakes, raisin wheats, porridge, occasional sugary ones) but now rejected. Phases of toast with butter or choc spread but not for a while. Will sometimes eatbcrumpet/ pancake/ croissant/ malt loaf at weekends. Always offered fruit, rarely accepted. No interest ever shown in hot things. All highly vexing but seems content enough!

crapfatbanana · 07/07/2015 21:45

One likes cereal - the more chocolatey/sugary the better.
One likes omelettes and ketchup
One likes Nutella sandwiches
One likes porridge

Wishful80sMontage · 07/07/2015 21:49

She has a yogurt and raisins every single day then either
Cornflakes
Rice Krispies
Toast and jam
