I need to cut down on the amount of bread I eat to reduce my weight. I don't have milk on cereal so don't like many. What do others eat. Or do you have a nice museli that isn't too expensive or maybe its homemade.

I think Im making up for not eating any for the last 9 months as it made me feel sicker.

Fruit and plain yoghurt, porridge or homemade smoothies.

ilovecaboose · 27/10/2006 14:47

what about fruit with something - you could make it into a smoothie, with oats and milk (cows/soya/rice etc). Easy to make and quick to eat.

amynnixmum · 27/10/2006 14:47

I tend to just eat fruit.

now i have porridge made with half milk and half water (sometimes i put fake sugar, candarel, on top)

and for lunch i have soup, a cup a soup if feeling lazy, and oatcakes

i ahve lost TWO STONE so it must work

Beabea · 27/10/2006 14:50

porridge has been the key for my diet

are you sure you dont like it? you could make it with water, have sugar on it, or salt as they tend to do round these parts

alligator · 27/10/2006 14:54

I eat museli Whole wheat one from sainsburys. the one in the blue pack. As a treat I somtimes have apple crumble made with oats.

at the weekend we have rashers or sausages or both.

Beabea · 27/10/2006 14:55

I suppose that is a valid question. I don't remember eating it. I can't stand the look of it. Although I like rice pudding and its not dissimilar to the look of porridge.

I think I would rather eat fruit, yoghurt, museli. Thanks anyway. I just need to get some in.

there are dozens of flavoured porridges now

not just the old fashioned type

i find shop muesli full of sugar, and home made too much of a scutter

my aunt has her cornflakes with fresh OJ or sometimes ribena!

Queenmummy · 27/10/2006 14:59

Another Dorset cereals muesli eater here (topped with sliced banana). Also go through porridge-eating phases, though am not fancying it at the moment. I try to be balanced about how much wheat I eat eg. if I've had a sandwich for lunch i won't then have pasta for dinner etc - I try to only have one 'wheaty' meal a day

Beabea · 27/10/2006 15:08

Its not the milk I dont like its the wet soggy cereal thing.

I like organic yoghurt or rice pudding with rock hard conference pears for brekkie, but not until I've got to work - can't eat before 8 o clock. Dorset cereals are very yummy and don't get soggy quickly, although I only have a pot of milk on them. Omelette? Natural yoghurt and honey?

southeastastra · 27/10/2006 19:37

Skyler · 27/10/2006 19:42

I hate soggy cereal. I have bitesize shredded wheat though. It is the only cereal that works better with milk for me.

Skyler · 27/10/2006 19:42

Love porridge too!
