I want to get a 2 week menu running, but I know how to cook sod all (I CAN cook, just need recipes and a kick).

I am on a tight budget, so it needs to be as cheap as possible, filling, but healthy.

We all like pretty much everything (apart from the evils of cous cous).

PLEASE can yous who do this kind of stuff come and post oodles of recipes so I can sort a 2 week menu and shopping list?

You are all stars.

(Oh, not opposed to vegi options too)

well, I might aswell jump on the bandwagon

[email protected]

tell me to frig off if you like!

Firebird, I do alot of things with potatoes - they go with alot, and dont cost alot. And pasta. If you can remember to use them up, buy a good supply of veg, and use for stews etc. Cheap if you use them up, but not if you forget about them at the botom of the fridge

bloodyhowler · 28/10/2006 12:33

It is much cheaper to shop at the butchers and the market if you can be bothered and just buy washing powder etc in supermarkets

ggglimpopo - I tend to feed 9 under 5's each day and they need the carbos......I agree about the fish btw - but round here it is costly and I can't fit it into the budget too often

all sent (I hope...if you didn't get one let me know)

KTeepee · 30/10/2006 20:21

Katymac, do you mind if I ask if the £50 a week you spend is food only (ie does it include washing powder, loo roll, etc as well). Also do you get all your milk and bread in one go or do have to get more during the week? (that is one of my downfalls, go out for bread and milk and come back with a lot more...)

Katymac · 30/10/2006 20:47

It includes most of that

Occasionally I get a bulk buy as Macro for washing powder or loo roll (but never both)

I buy meat, fish, baked beans and tom soup separatly- I feed the cat separatley

But it includes large amount of baby wipes ave 4 a week

No alcohol

I make my own bread and buy 3 loaves a week (in the freezer

I get milk delivered daily - so that is separate too

Gosh it doesn't look very much is included does it
