From my home-grown tomatoes and apples and it's delicious! How long do I have to leave it until it's ready? Delia says 3 MONTHS!!! Is she right?

3 months is optimum for the flavours to develop but not necessary at all. I made some on Thursday and have used 1/2 a jar already.

RT Chutney is really easy to make, you chop it all up, sling it in a pan and boil the crap out of it

Sorry that was just the method However I use quite a complex recipe (Nigella) so I won't give you mine (however it is easy, even DH makes it!)

it is easy Kanga, for this one I just peeled and chopped apples, onions and garlic and put them in a pan with some sultanas, some curry spices(cumin, coriander, a tiny bit of chili, mustard seeds)some tamarind paste and sugar and malt vinegar. Bring to the boil and let simmer for about 30 mins, pour into steralised jars and that's it.

So funny that I just read this. Have just finished making yet another batch of spice apple chutney (from Nigella's how to be a domestic goddess book). It is my vain attempt to use up all our home grown apples. I am soooooooo sick of them. Anyway, I just opened a bottle of a batch I made about a month ago - and it was yummy! Guess what all my friends and family are getting for Xmas?

Yep to Christmas presents I am properly broke so that's what's happening! Sorry Kanga - I just use Delia's and it seems to be delish I'm sure it's online somewhere... yum yum. And I'm now a bit jealous of your chutney parties everyone else...
