You know those little mini pumpkins that sit in your hand? I am planning to bake some in the oven, scoop out the flesh, make into pumpkin ice cream and serve it in the pumpkin shells as a bowl. What do you reckon? Has anyone made pumpkin ice cream before, or have a good recipe for it?

not read all of the post but if you have children a jelly hand always goes down a treat. Turn a new and washed washing up glove inside out, fill with jelly mix (I tend to use less water so the mix is more solid) red or green usually good, hopefully you will have a fridge with bar/slat shelves, 'hang' the glove using clothes pegs. Taking the glove off can be a bit tricky, so I usually make a couple just in case. Goes down a treat each year.

How about making snot cubes .

Somanybabyseagulls · 14/10/2006 18:55

Great isn't it Franny, seriously freaks the kids when the first see it, but is great in subsequent years when they have their mates round and they are totally unsuspecting!

If you find the jelly hand difficult, you can also fill a glove with water and food colouring, and use it if you've got a big bowl of punch/drink as a huge ice cube.

party bags

I am not known for party bags in general

You would love my friend round the corner cod, she makes her own bags and hand stitched her own bunting and stuff. She is coming to the party so there is no hope for me, really

I thought: face painting (have a deal with friend: I buy the face paints, she paints the faces. She's very good)

Put on music let them jump around. Musical statues sort of thing.

Food. Pumpkin ice cream. Run around upstairs trashing ds's bedroom.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump - I have done the hand ice cube at a previous party, went down a treat.

I am hosting an adults own halloween fancy dress party on the 28th, got to cater for 30 people that are definites, may be more :yikes:

Was thinking of a huge chilli, rice, jacket spuds
and pukka pies (courtesy of costco) and a vat of mushy peas, with various nibbles beforehand, finished off with a big choc cake and I may bake some cookies.

Does this sound ok do you think? Needed to be simple, I don;t want to be cooking all day, with ds running around my feet

SazzleC · 14/10/2006 21:05

Reall easy alternative to pumpkin carving - get a large bag of large oranges and a black permenent marker pen - no seriously it looks great. Colour in jack-o-lantern faces, bats, witches etc. on the oranges and place them or hang the mround the house. Cheap , mess free but very effective.

janeite · 14/10/2006 21:15

Mrs Fish - that all sounds great but don't forget the veggies!! Do they make vegetarian pukka pies? Or would you make veggie chilli? Could just eat that now - haven't had pie and peas since I was about 14!!

MrsFish · 14/10/2006 21:34

I was going to do a veggie chilli, I only have two veggies coming. Will also have lots of nibbles

janeite · 15/10/2006 12:04

Sounds fab - what time shall I arrive?!!!!!
