Morning folks,

A quick heads-up. Some of you (particularly those of you who put in the hours testing the recipes Grin) may recall that we've been working on a Mumsnet cook book of your favourite, foolproof family recipes for some time now.

Well it's being published by Bloomsbury on Thursday 8th June and you can buy a copy of it over on Amazon.

Thanks again for all your help with the book - it literally (and we mean that literally) wouldn't exist without you. And if you're after a warm glow, check out what no less a kitchen superstar than Yotam Ottolenghi had to say about it:

"Family recipes - tried and tested... and tested... and tested - win hands down in any tasting competition I have ever attended. This book is an ultimate collection of such winners: reliable, useful and, most importantly, completely delicious."

ANOTHER UPDATE: We've added another video of the lovely RebeccaMumsnet demo-ing which we ate and was utterly delish.

UPDATE: We got the lovely RebeccaMumsnet to try her hand at the - see the (rather good) results for yourself...

The Mumsnet family cookbook is now out!

Banana bread made - it's very cake like - but it's very nice. Again nothing new but good basic recipe and we all liked it.
Ignoring the three minute sponge....!!!

CatherineHMumsnet · 12/05/2014 10:25

So pleased to hear the recipes are going well. Can we please, please ask you to pop along and post a review on Amazon to get the ball rolling? Who's going to be first?

Cantdothisagain · 12/05/2014 10:36

I've never written an Amazon review! I don't want to out myself here by identifying myself there... If it were anonymous, I would.

CatherineHMumsnet · 12/05/2014 12:14

BerniesBurneze - you can read about all the books Mumsnet has published so far here.
We did run a competition on Twitter last week to give away a few copies.

InspirationFailed · 12/05/2014 13:07

I just made the 3 minute cake from Rebecca's YouTube video - yum! And very easy to do, I just used an electric whisk and it was even quicker!

I divided the mixture between kid sized bowls and made individual ones for them. They loved it!

InspirationFailed - THANKYOU!! And to everyone who's reviewed so far.

I made the Thai curry and the brownies at the weekend. First of all, the brownies are absolutely amazing, best ones I've ever tasted and....I made them!! I always thought I was a shit cook. Downside is DH says I've now no excuse not to do more baking. I did add 10 minutes to the cooking time though but am assuming my oven must be really inefficient. They are chewy and lovely and best of all took less than 10 mins to make.

Thai curry also tasted great - I did add rice to it and next time will add some prawns or chicken (as DH not keen on pure veggie stuff). Will cook again definitely - was also very easy and quick.

Mignonette · 12/05/2014 15:23

Local book shop has sold THREE over the weekend.

They be vair vair pleased.

ancientbuchanan · 12/05/2014 18:58

Probs with website. DH buying it as s present for,me ( so sweet) failed to notice voting button that asked to to.say if you were UK or us citizen. When applied for discount got told inapplicable to US. Rage.

So went to waterstones where the only copy had gone awol..

Rage rage

Cantdothisagain · 12/05/2014 19:07

Made chicken dippers and the I made them Myself biscuits with kids today - they have been in kitchen heaven. The dippers use creme fraiche which I've never tried before in chicken nuggets but it worked very well - similar really to the buttermilk that Nigella uses.

Also made the gorgeous chocolate Traybake - oh my goodness, despite only having cocoa rather than chocolate in, it is amazing.

Armadale · 12/05/2014 22:26

I made the Malt Loaf tonight for DH from the packed lunch chapter- literally the easiest baking I have ever done- using a teacup as the only measurement and the same quantity of each ingredient was inspired.

It is very, very good. too much has already been eaten

JustineMumsnet · 13/05/2014 08:10

That's fab - am so pleased. Please do review on Amazon and/or Mumsnet.

Ace. The whole raison d'etre was to find ways of making cooking easier. (Please share and review if you can - Amazon and/or Mumsnet Smile)

Fab - hope they put another order in. It's No. 1 in Best Sellers in Cooking for Babies & Children this morning. Whoop!

Cantdothisagain · 13/05/2014 09:33

Have reviewed it on Mnet - I really like it. Much better than rivals.

Though I really don't like the title - sorry Justine- it doesn't suit the book at all.

Love the images though. And the blurbs. And most importantly the recipes!

JustineMumsnet · 13/05/2014 09:43

@catsareeasier

So - totally off topic, but just nosey: is RebeccaMumsnet in her own kitchen on YouTube? Or whose little dog is looking plaintively in through the kitchen door of the same kitchen while Anjum Anand makes scrummy tarka dhal?? (about 45 seconds in!).

Ok so I admit it's my kitchen and that's Kasper peeking through the window - he is cute, isn't he? [proud].

neolara · 13/05/2014 09:43

Can I just say how delighted I am that you included a lemon drizzle cake in the book.......

CatherineHMumsnet · 13/05/2014 16:29

And if you can't review the book on Amazon, do pop on over to our Reviews section and review it there.

Cantdothisagain · 13/05/2014 16:50

I have posted a review on Mumsnet Catherine...

mumof2cov · 13/05/2014 19:27

made a stand on your head banana bread today with my very enthusiastic three year old. turned out lovely. shall have to test out more recipes with and without my little chef. interested in the broccoli balls am wondering how they will go down Wink Wink

CatherineHMumsnet · 14/05/2014 15:46

Cantdothisagain - saw that. Thanks very much.

Mumof2cov - made the banana bread myself - turns out well doesn't it?

Blatherskite · 14/05/2014 20:15

Mine arrived today. I'm going to shamelessly hunt through for my name on the recipes I helped to test and then I'll pick out some others to try :)

zipzap · 14/05/2014 22:20

Please can you sort out the 'look inside' feature on Amazon so I can have a quick look at it before deciding to buy it. I've got very used to virtually looking at books before buying and find it really helpful, especially with recipe books - it's nice to see the layout and the way the recipes are written out so you know if it's a nice format to follow... Thank you! Flowers And a Wine or WineWine while we're waiting Grin

RockinHippy · 15/05/2014 13:28

Well I'm very impressed - DD waded straight in making the "Cheese Tomato & Thyme Muffins" which though very nice, she decided could be improved upon & off she went developing her own savoury muffin flavours

So thanks to the book, you've effectively rekindled a love of cooking in her that I've struggled to get her interested in

RESULT!!Grin

Goes of to munch on DDs inspired creation based on your book recipe - an "It's All Greek to Me" savoury muffin:)
