Just made one up for dds' pudding and it's going down a treat!
Well they get a good milk intake don't they?

What about super noodles?

Are they bad?

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:00

I don't think they're the best - sharwoods dried egg noodles are just as easy and with some chopped up veg in the microwave very healthy (ok boring myself a bit here!!!!)

As for dodgy ingredients - how often do you wipe your childs hands when you're out shopping??? I insist that my child eats worms and mud pies just i did!!!!!

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 20:04

Lol - the only thing bad about Super Noodles is the sachet thingy! if you leave that out they are ok - and if you don't what the heck - life is too short!

Besides they make great food when mixed with griddled veg etc, they are tasty

mistressmiggins · 20/08/2006 20:13

mine love it - especially Butterscotch

sorry Iota but so what

mine eat meat, fish, over fruit & veg a day, milk etc etc
I cook from scratch

a little pudding like that is OK as long as not every day combined with processed meals

I hate it though

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:23

I do think sometimes if you don't give them access to the treat side of things, they'll just go overboard when they've got access to it themselves.

Now, does anyone remember those mousse things that lived in the freezer and were supposed to be defrosted but tasted so awful you just ate them frozen like ice cream????? Or is it just me

southeastastra · 20/08/2006 20:26

when i was little we had to make an angel delight run to six people. when my mum and dad were out once i made up a packet and ate the lot in the garden.

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:27

I bet it tasted fantastic!!!!

iota · 20/08/2006 20:28

Well my kids do eat processed food and sweets/ice-cream/chocolate etc, but I do try to avoid hydrogenated veg oil as it gets such a bad press.

There must be some reason that M&S have taken it out of their products, with Tesco following swiftly on behind

Cappuccino · 20/08/2006 20:28

my dds like homemade rice pudding

doddle to make and nothing but rice, milk and sugar

I freeze it in little yogurt-sized pots so I can drag it out and microwave when needed

fab

(though I do like Angel Delight myself I do think it tastes a little, em, plasticy)

southeastastra · 20/08/2006 20:29

it was soo loverly!! but i did feel a bit sick!

M&S

iota · 20/08/2006 20:31

try again

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 20:35

Oh no Iota, I believe you, but the FACT is that eating one bad ingrediant in one dessert that is eaten once in a while will not cause major damage to the average human being

Life is too short to worry too much about everything!

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:38

The way my lo runs around I'd be surprised if anythings allowed to actually get into his bloodstream before its burnt off!!!!!

iota · 20/08/2006 20:38

Just so long as you're making an informed decision

I'm not criticizing anyone BTW , just responding to the thread title - people should know what they are eating

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:54

Damn it - why haven't I got angel delight in the cupboard right at this minute?????

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 20:55

Oh I know Iota, don't worry, I am fully informed, I just feel taht there are certain times when it is important to develope a blind eye to turn! The fact is that every parent does this, but each parent chooses different things to be blind to!

iota · 20/08/2006 20:56

Too true - my kids have the occasional FruitShoot

iota · 20/08/2006 20:57

for example - htere are many other 'sins'

southeastastra · 20/08/2006 20:57

bird's trifle that is yummmmm

CountTo10 · 20/08/2006 20:58

Ohhhh birds trifle mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

alex8 · 20/08/2006 21:06

Countto10, sainsburys used to make this block of chocolate mousse that was lovely frozne or defrosted. You could get an individual block of it like a choc ice too. But the ones I think you are thinking of are choclate lovelies. mmmm

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 21:07

Absolutly Iota, I think it is just a case of getting together the relevent knowledge and then choosing your sins according to what fits best with your life. (ot to mention of course what best suits your taste buds )
