Now, other than stick my whole hand into said tin and eat the stuff like Winnie the Pooh eats his honey, what other great things can I do with it?

Oh and once we tried sprinkling it with grated - erm - some kind of nutmeg type thing. I think we had heard it was hallucinogenic.

It was crap.

CMOTDibbler · 15/01/2014 12:16

The flapjacks made with condensed milk are amazing. Squidgy and lovely mmmmmmm.

cakebaby · 15/01/2014 12:19

ROFL at sundaycat indignant at camera in face!

Oh yes to the no bake no cheese cheesecake

lisbapalea · 15/01/2014 12:27

Sorry if this makes me a philistine but what's the difference between tablet and fudge?

TheNunsOfGavarone · 15/01/2014 12:35

Tablet is FAR better Grin . It is a Scottish speciality and has a different texture, rather crisper than fudge. You need to try some; not that very pale mass produced sort that comes in bars, but the gorgeous golden brown home made stuff cut into squares!

AvonRachel · 15/01/2014 12:43

I only ever use it to make Irish Cream Liqueur (Baileys) - so much nicer than the actual brand or the copy cat ones you find in the shops, plus you can vary the amount of alcohol in it! :D :D :D

FrankSpenser · 15/01/2014 13:08

Oooh, I'm such a knob! I've only now just clicked at is meant by tablet. Duurr!

Yes tablet is far superior to fudge. Rather crumbly and definatley melts in the mouth. Fudge is a soft lump that doesn't quite dissolve in the mouth like tablet does. Its denser.

I'm smacking my here at the thought!

Lolly cake

or

chocolate chip biscuits

mmmmmmm I'm meant to be weaning off sugar. I knew clicking on this thread was a bad idea!

LittleBabyPigsus · 15/01/2014 13:31

Add to cold black coffee for Vietnamese style iced coffee. Lush.

BethAndHerBrood · 15/01/2014 13:51

I now have a tray of tablet cooling in the kitchen, thanks to you lot!

My condensed milk was caramel flavour - wont matter, will it?

TheNunsOfGavarone · 15/01/2014 14:45

It won't matter, it'll just be caramel flavour tablet, mmmmmmm Grin. My favourite is ginger tablet, I stir some freshly grated ginger into the mixture just before pouring it into a pan to cool.

Ninehoursahead · 15/01/2014 19:28

Marian Keyes has a great "three milks" cake in her recipe book. Absolutely delicious!

legspinner · 15/01/2014 19:45

Bank dammit you beat me to lolly cake and choc chip biccies, NZ-style

So my contribution to this thread is going to be the most disgusting salad dressing EVER (DH loves it, all his family make it. I can't stand it).
wudhi.com/recipes/great%20new%20zealand%20salad%20dressing.htm

in fact he uses about half a tin making that and I use the rest for choc chip cookies or lolly cake Grin

TheNunsOfGavarone · 15/01/2014 20:27

Thanks for reminding me of that wonderful sounding recipe Ninehours, I've been meaning to try it for a while!

peanutbutterandbanana · 16/01/2014 19:21

BEST ICE CREAM RECIPE EVERRRRR

Whip up 600ml double cream until it is past the soft/hard stage but before it gets really whipped.

Add one 410g tin condensed milk and 1-2 tsps vanilla essence

Mix until combined.

Put into freezer until fully frozen. It is yummy! And everyone will be amazed at your home-made ice cream. I also sometimes take it out before set and marble in some warmed nutella. You will faint when you eat this......it is truly orgasmic and adds lots of inches to your hips

peanutbutterandbanana · 16/01/2014 19:22

And it takes five mins to make.... just have to wait for the freezing bit which is very boring

TheNunsOfGavarone · 19/01/2014 12:38

Mmmmmm, I've got a tray of ginger tablet cooling down and waiting to be scoffed Grin

Knottyknitter · 19/01/2014 12:41

Stick whole tin in pan of water and boil for 4 hours or so to make toffee. It's the only way forward!

VestaCurry · 19/01/2014 12:43

Boo that sounds fab

deepestpurple · 30/01/2014 17:41

TelephoneTree I made your honeycomb ice cream. Amazing. The dc love it, only problem is I keep find myself in the freezer with a spoon.....
