I know this has been done in many ways here but I was talking to my mil today about how much crap kids are given ALL THE TIME. It's so sad - am thinking Fruit Shoots as dd managed to get hold of one today at bbq party and was a wreck for the rest of the day. Coincidence? I think not......
But I seriously think some legislation needs to be put in place - these additive-ridden products should be banned.

DD has always been ok with fruit shoots but not Smarties, jelly tot's, sunny D, some crisps and heinz spag bol.

She drinks alot of squash and is fine.

People don't have to buy they're kids junk, its up to them although i think packaging should have some kind of warning on.

I agree... banning is a bit OTT isn't it?

DS's both have a reasonably balanced diet and thankfully have had no allergic reactions to any foods etc so they also have a bit of sugary rubbish as well. I figure if I ban it then when they get to school they'll see their friends with it and want it even more - that wanting what you can't have syndrome. As for drinking water! Bleeeuuuggghhhhhh, can't stand the stuff on it's own myself and neither DS's are that keen, so I pick the squash with the least amount of nasties on the shelf when I go to the shop, at the moment it's Vimto.

I think feeding them a balanced diet and when they're old enough getting them involved in helping to choose a balanced menu with guidance is of major importance when growing up.

I don't really see the point in banning foods (other than for allergy reasons) as I think that will encourage them to eat more of them when they're old enough to buy things themselves / swap with friends at school.

With regard to peer pressure you get that with everything not just food.
