I DON'T LIKE BROWN RICE.
Occasionally some is nice, nutty and well-cooked. I hate it when little hard husk bits get stuck in your teeth.

I like white basmati, or lovely sticky risotto rice, or melty rice-pudding...

I go halfway and prefer brown basmati rice! Much nicer than brown rice, more like white rice but with the nice nuttiness but without the texture of teeth straining brown rice IYSWIM

lol. I'm also hooked up to a Nice Asian Boy, and he LIKES brown rice. it is nice with cashews and mushroom strogonoff. I think he would have a fit if I served it up with curry tho. Pure white basmati only there!

I hate brown rice too. It's like eating maggots. Give me some nice white basmati anyway. And as for brown pasta, it's like eating embedded razor blades.

Love brown bread though, especialy with all sorts of seeds in.

All rice id the work of lucifer (maybe except fried rice, but only in v small amounts)It's super yuk, especially when DP cooks it and it goes soggy.

Never had it as a child, as my father called it "famine food" so we weren't allowed to eat it.

That said, we eat loads of the stuff!!!! Only with curries though, when you can disguise the taste.

How do you cook the stuff? I have tried, oh, I have tried, BUT it just takes absolutely ages, doesn't absorb other flavours very well, and is really too firm for my lot.

i love brown rice but love love love camargue red rice which dh bought thinking it was couscous (wtf?!). v expensive tho.

we cook brown rice in chicken stock and for about 5 mins longer than it says too. yum.

don't think brown rice would taste right with curry and that's when we eat most of our rice (basmati yummm)

I'm amazed anyone can tell the difference between brown and white pasta. It all looks the same once it is cooked.

Brown rice? It's okay if served with a sloppy, juicy casserole type meal but I always forget how long it takes to cook and we end up starving and cranky waiting for it to be ready.

I HATE brown rice - I've done the 'its better for you trick' but whilst my mind accepts the fact, my tastebuds say 'bog off'.....Its too much like hard work.....

Ah someone on my wavelength. I've tried so hard to like brown rice and even worse wholemeal pasta. I do actually eat both quite a bit but years of eating them have not converted me. When I have real while pasta and rice I always rememeber why I love them so much.

Beatiw - not sure what you are doing to your pasta but even if wholemeal and white pasta look the same they definitlely do not taste the same.

white rice for me! MIL insists on serving brown - even with chinese food - yuck! (Chinese food should not be home made anyway - only takeaway for us!)

I like brown rice betetr than white I like the nutty flavour. We also have wholemeal pasta which I think tastes better if it's slightly over done.
