cos mine sure as hell don't (despite whispers of food policing)
It would be the equivalent of me getting through a large twiggy broom.

dd1 demanded raw celery the other night (she was eating a roast dinner - lamb, potatoes and some cauliflower cheese) but just fancied some

spidermama · 21/06/2006 14:57

Yep. Mine love them. They have them in their packed lunches and at home. I also notice they go down well at parties around these parts.

littlerach · 21/06/2006 16:59

DD1 loves carrot sticks, though not as keen on celery.
DD2 loves raw pepper choped up.

moondog · 21/06/2006 17:33

Yes Bozza,I am misinformed it seems.
Ah well,good to know!
There's hope yet.

They are both partial to carrot sticks but loathe celery

southeastastra · 21/06/2006 17:49

my ds (4) loves carrots, i ate them all the time whilst pg.

Enid · 21/06/2006 17:50

dds love carrot sticks and cucumber

not celery though

Blandmum · 21/06/2006 18:04

dd loves both, ds loves carrots and cucumber batons, but not celery

southeastastra · 21/06/2006 18:11

celery is a bit chewy isn't it , it could put them off

peachyClair · 21/06/2006 18:35

DS1 loves them both, especially celery- he'll beg for it in Tesco, although we have to limit it as he won't eat anything else if it is in the fridge.

slug · 22/06/2006 10:37

The sluglet loves them.

Nowdays I cut the celery into sticks rather than slaices as I got sick of the "Look Mummy, It's a sad face, now its a happy face, now its a sad face....." conversation. All I ever wanted to see was an eating face.

stleger · 22/06/2006 10:43

My kids are fine with most raw veg and fruit - but not cherry tomatoes. Odd since my wholemeal organic friends convinced their kid they were sweets!

ChasingRabbits · 22/06/2006 10:50

ds eats lots of crap but to my consternation loves raw carrots (and raw cauliflower - WTF), though I have stopped cutting them into sticks, just break a whole carrot in half and give it to him. More biccy's for me I say!

rbj949703 · 22/06/2006 23:14

DD2 will eat everything, including celery.

glassofwine · 22/06/2006 23:28

DD1 - would eat them with joy
DD2 - would eat them with joy and ask for more
DS1 - would refuse, try if bribed with pudding and then gag
DH - would eat with joy and say 'why don't we do this more often'

DS1 &2 both love carrots. Will root through food to get to them first. Sometimes the only part of the meal that gets eaten.
Never given them celery because I don't see the point.

Dd1 who's 8 and dd2 who's 2 both love

carrots
brocolli
peppers
cucumber
lettuce
peas
mushrooms
cauliflower
sweetcorn
onions, the 2 year old will actually eat slices of raw onion if we give them to her, which we do regularly
baby sweetcorn
mange tout
apples
bananas
strawberries
raspberries
mangoes
and many more

They both dislike

tomatoes
potatoes, can take them or leave them, mostly leave them
oranges, neither of them like oranges

2 year old doesn't like plums but that's probably because I ate them like they were going out of fashion when I was pregnant

Have never tried them with celery as I don't like it, so don't buy it, all those horrible stringy bits bleugh

Tortington · 23/06/2006 00:19

my son aged 13 - loves loves loves loves - god i cant tell you how much
cucumber - i give him half a stick. mine like all veg.

they love farty stuff - like sticks of carrot and cucumber, raw potato, they love broccoli - from being small they begged me to buy the "trees"

boys dont like onion girl does though

peppers - my buys dont like peppers - but dya know why? its becuase they are called peppers - if you called them frollyhicks - they would eat them - they think its like chili despite my years of protest to the contrary

shame really cos its feckin gorg.

all fruit especially melon and bananas

however to my utter shame i realised that none of my kids ever ate a pomagranate.

and nuts - my kids love a big bag of monkey nuts from the greengrocer - sit there and eat them like popcorn.

this willbe rectified when they come in season.

VVVQV · 23/06/2006 00:28

DD loves Carrot. In fact she "steals" it from me when im preparing veg for dinner etc. She loves all fruit and most veg.

DS,however, loves to try and eat cat food. At a push he'll suck stones. Have even retrieved a garden snail from his mouth

Win some. Lose some.
