What sort of party? Lunch? Evening? For kids too? Could you do a buffet - finger foods, salad, cold chicken legs, bowls of nuts/crisps, dips and carrot/celerey sticks etc.

suzywong · 12/04/2006 15:05

maybe a please in the OP would have been a bit of a sweetener

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 15:23

I'm not a child. I don't see others saying 'please' when they have a query.

Doesn't matter, have got enough ideas. Thankyou.

PMSL,

I arrived ready to give armfuls of suggestions, and this is what i see! Grin.

WE ARE NOT ALL ON HERE 24HRS/7 WAITING TO RESPOND TO YOU YOU KNOW!!

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 15:32

Oh thats a shame. There me thinking that out of all the people on here i would get one message after 3 hours (as it is daytime) and all i get is patronised.

Sorry to compo and Hattie but as i said i'm pg.

how about an Italian style antipasto with loads of nicely displayed cured meats, olives, artichoke, grilled peppers, sundried tomatoes, baby mozzerella and a huge pile of delicious crusty bread to go with it. And you could also have a really good cheese board. And you could serve a nice chilled dry prosecco

Its a surprise 60th for my mum in our house in the evening.

Just want some simple ideas as i have no help with any of it and as i said, pg, as big as a house and need some nice ideas.

Sorry. I'm normally nice but i'm soooo stressed and tired and having a low sugar moment.

I do apologise.
But theres no need to patronise. Sad

I felt like shouting so i shouted!

Hattie05 · 12/04/2006 15:40

schneebly · 12/04/2006 15:41

after the 70's food thread on here recently why not go retro (i'm sure your mum would approve) and do things like vol-au-vents, coronation chhicken and prawn cocktails? May be a bad suggestion but could be fun?

Moomin · 12/04/2006 15:41

we're not used to pregnant people on here so we don't know how to pussyfoot round

bamboo · 12/04/2006 15:41

Could you circulate a list and ask all the guests to bring something?

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 15:42

I'm honestly very nice.

You ask for advise and get grief instead.

Thanks for the ideas. Will go off and cry for an hour now.

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 15:44

Retro sounds good. And easy. I can re-live my childhood! Vol-au-vonts. Haven't had them in years.
