Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

CatherineHMumsnet · 24/09/2012 13:02

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

Oooh fab, I've got mine.
It's baking, and I'm a terrible baker, but that makes it a challenge for me.

Got my recipe- when I've tested do i get another? Can't wait, I have a breakfast, I would never have made or thought of but just reading it I know my dc will love it.

zipzap · 01/10/2012 20:57

I have just discovered mine.

It's a pudding, which I would normally say yum to, but it involves squirty cream (can't stand the stuff), needs an electric whisk (don't have), a blendy stick (do have, but needs to blitz frozen fruit; given how it struggles with stale bread when I want to make bread crumbs, it doesn't bode well) and shop-made chocolate sauce when one of the few amazing super easy recipes I have been able to make since I was about 6years old is hot chocolate sauce, and consequently never buy the stuff.

I suspect I am already slightly biased against this recipe Blush, hopefully it will taste better than the sum of its parts suggests on the recipe itself!

I'm going to make it at the weekend and see...

InvisibleHotPinkWeasel · 01/10/2012 21:10

I assume this book will include my recipe? Chicken and Sweetcorn soup, with no tortoises in your fridge and a side order of veeted plug holes?
Hmm

Catsmamma · 01/10/2012 21:16

i have a horrible recipe.....sorry catherine....but it is!

I will try it and report back but really..hot yoghurt?

Would anyone like to swap???

I have a rice pudding... which no one in my house will eat... will gladly swap!

NettoSuperstar · 02/10/2012 07:52

Are allowed to swap?
Mine's not terrible, but it's baking which I'm bad at, and would be better for a younger child as it's a 'fun' thing and DD is 11 and a bit past that.
It's ice cream cone cakes if anyone is interested.
Not the rice pudding though, I detest that stuff!

FellatioNelson · 02/10/2012 07:57

Sorry just realised something. Not sure if I've been sent a recipe but my email has been blocked due to 'suspicious activity'. Hmm I have no idea why, but I cannot seem to access it at all, so if I have been sent a recipe and I am not responding I apologise. Will try to set up a new email account and amend my registration details.

terrywoganstrousers · 02/10/2012 07:59

I signed up but can't find my email- did everyone who signed up get sent one? SadSadSad

GreatGooglyMoogly · 02/10/2012 08:12

I have a recipe that is definitely not from either of the categories I asked for and only DH would even try it in our family. NettoSuperstar I would happily swap if we're allowed? My recipe is stuffed tomatoes!

Catsmamma · 02/10/2012 08:48

I'd like to swap if it is allowed.

the very thought of Hot yoghurt pudding...... Shock

If not I will do it and I am sure the chicken will be thrilled report back.

Hi everyone - happy to hear lots of you are already cooking away. We've even had some photos through already. If you'd like to swap, please do - as long as you complete the feedback form with the name of the recipe you actually ended up cooking that's fine.

Terrywogantrousers - you didn't fill in your email so we couldn't contact you. I do still have some recipes for testing - will DM you.

Haha, just seen this. I was sure I filled in my email, sorry! That's what comes of being preg AND on an iPhone!
I'll DM you back, thanks.

terrywoganstrousers · 02/10/2012 11:38

I have a yummy gluten free carrot cake and triple choc muffin recipe that I'm quite proud of too- can I send those in for your perusal? Or are you not doing weirdy gluten free recipes?

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 12:31

Do please add them in recipes. We're doing all kinds of weirdy recipes, but right now have picked a shortlist of what we're thinking of featuring in the book, so these might be too late.
