Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

41NotTrendy - thanks - looks lovely!

CatherineHMumsnet · 09/10/2012 10:27

We've now had feedback on 120 out of the 170 recipes we sent out which is amazing - thanks so much.

If you still have to fill in the form, it would be great if you could do it over the next few days. And if you were given a recipe and don't think you'll be able to do it or to make it in time, let me know and I'll see if I can give it to someone else.

CatherineHMumsnet · 09/10/2012 12:07

Titsalinabumsquash - do you need the link to your recipe sent again?

CatherineHMumsnet · 10/10/2012 14:55

Thanks for all the offers to test more recipes, we'll definitely take you up on that, although it may take a while we look at all the feedback we've had in.

Talking of feedback, my useless maths means I've just realised we've only had feedback in from 40% of the people who said they'd take part. So I'm going to send out a reminder email today. Please don't be offended if you've been a total star and have already cooked, photographed and given us feedback and are emailed - it's just way, way easier to email you all in one go.

gazzalw - I hadn't factored for two Mumsnetters testing every recipe!

CatherineHMumsnet · 10/10/2012 17:14

Gazzalw - so far they've either agreed or we're still waiting for the other person to give their feedback. But am feeling hopeful/positive people will agree.

Well that's a first. Managed to delete my own message! Meant to say - we have another recipe that needs testing if anyone's interested it's Lamb Shanks here

CatherineHMumsnet · 15/10/2012 12:29

By the way - wanted to do a general massive thank-you to everyone who has completed the feedback form so far (and sent such great photos). Really appreciate it!

CatherineHMumsnet · 15/10/2012 13:24

MaureenCognito - as you might imagine (or at least hope) we didn't set out to choose 'any old shit' for people to try.

We did try and pick a range of recipes and so far more than 60% have had good feedback, which we're pretty happy with!

CatherineHMumsnet · 15/10/2012 13:25

Thanks Melty for offering to do the lamb shanks. We may have some choccie biscuits if anyone else wants a try.

CatherineHMumsnet · 15/10/2012 13:37

rockinhippy - will PM you the recipe.

MaureenCognito -

CatherineHMumsnet · 17/10/2012 10:13

Morning everyone - we're still waiting for around 90 people to give us their feedback.

I've just heard from the authors that the way they're approaching the book means that you actually still have a week or so to get your feedback in. So if you've been sitting on your recipe, or thought you wouldn't have time, it would be great if you'd make it over this week or the coming weekend and get any comments back to us next week.

And we may have some new recipes to test - anyone like to try another one?

CatherineHMumsnet · 17/10/2012 17:08

All those of you who've offered to do another recipe - do you have any food allergies/intolerances/veggie requirements (saves me having to cross reference with the original recipe testing spreadsheet!)

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 09:59

Will be PM-ing folks over the coming weeks with more recipes. Will be a bit fitful as we work out which chapters are going to need more testing. But thanks so much for all your brilliant (and detailed) feedback.

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 10:58

Rockinhippy - thanks! Look forward to getting that.

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 16:27

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 16:54

gazzalw - thanks, that's yours then.

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 17:01

Droitwichymummy and weegiemum - thanks, they're yours to test.

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 17:02

DorsetKnob - thanks (I think it sounds nice!)

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 17:06

BetterTogether - yes please.

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 17:19

CatherineHMumsnet · 23/10/2012 17:25

CatherineHMumsnet · 24/10/2012 16:06

Dial M for Mummy - great pilaff and sticky toffee for you

Snowballinashoebox - thanks - tortilla would be great.

Dorset Knob - if you could do the pea soup too that would be useful.

Melty - I have you down for the broccoli and mush soup.

Mrs Pink - would you do the pilaff too please?

CatherineHMumsnet · 24/10/2012 16:07

As for feedback - would be very handy if we could have all feedback forms filled in by end of half term (Sunday week).
