Fed up of being fat. Help and a good kick up the arse needed!

I am fat, in the morbidly obese way. I binge eat, mostly on chocolate or sweet things, though I have been known to do savoury foods.
I come from a fat family, though my sister lost all her weight when she went to uni.
My husband is overweight (I don't consider him to be at a dangerous level) as are his parents and siblings (all boys and built like brick sh*t houses).
It seems that all of them have decided to diet at the exact same time (I kid you not)
DH has lost a stone in a month doing the fasting diet, and I am proud of him. He was unhappy he did something about it, though I like him being a 'bigger' man, I support him in his choices.
DM & DS have both lost well over a stone using weight watchers, and now my dad has joined in.
DH's brothers have taken up cycling and are doing well on it.
NOW I know I need to lose weight, not only to be healthy, but because I am feeling rubbish about myself. Which hasn't happened before, despite being fat I've always felt comfortable in the skin I am in. Though that has changed and I don't know if it is because DD is fairly new (8Months) or because I'm beginning to realise that I am with DH for life and no other man will look at me (though why they would want to is beyond me)
So there is a big part of me that wants to, but with everyone round me going 'YES YES, YOU SHOULD DO IT" I seem to be digging my heels in and going 'Nopey nope nope.' Even my MIL seems to have joined in.
Someone tell me to shut up and get one with it please.

Monday is a good start as I will be at work so it will distract me from the lack of eating in my life and also I have my sisters 3 children for a sleep over tonight and all day tomorrow, so chocolate will be needed to get me through as DH is working tomorrow.

I agree with citronella - Think of it as a life change rather than a diet.

Go to your GP, most will refer you to Weight Watchers or something similar for free. Also they may recommend 'exercise on prescription', basically they pay for you to go to the gym or swimming etc. it's cheaper for the NHS to pay for this than the health complications that come from obesity.

Also if you binge, tell your GP as they might refer you to a counsellor or something to help you understand the reasons why.

Are you ready ? Do you know what changes you are going to make ?

I know what I need to do to lose weight and need to stop bingeing. I don't need diet advice I need advice and support in sticking to the diet I choose.

I feel psychologically ready for it. Leave old bad habits behind. Healthy diet. No binge eating. Starting exercise and enjoying it.

I can seriously recommend //www.myfitnesspal.com. Get it on your phone. It will work out the calories that you can consume to get to the weight that you want and then simply works as a sophistocated food diary. You basically count EVERYTHING that you eat in a day. Stick to the calorie limit and you will see the weight fall off.

Its free. You don't need to be weighed in public and its really easy to understand.

I lost 2 stone with what seemed like little effort. I've kept it off for a year. I feel like it really helped me to make lasting changes to my lifestyle and diet.

Sorry I am here, been a mental week. I have started, but it was on Tuesday. I have found it harder being at home to stay in control, especially as my husband went and bought nearly £10 worth of chocolate (he sooo supportive)

I've tried to get out as much as I can, and have managed to stay away from from Maccy D's

Hope your week has gone well xxx

Loubou225 - Can I ask, what is the one on one off diet? Sounds great as you say DH lost lots of weight!

Good luck with your weight loss, I think as one poster has said, and I can't talk, as I say it/think it, then don't do it.
But regular changes, like just swapping things in meals and snacks will help, I think with all the light versions of things, there has to be some filling satiating foods too, otherwise where everything is low fat etc, that is where wanting other things can come in.

I definantly agree with the walking thing though, I used to do a lot more and it helped.
