I have a gammon and a slow cooker

Tomorrow I will combine the two but what else do I need?

DH says just shove the gammon in on it's own but surely not?

I think the gammon is smoked but I could be wrong. It's on the turn as I've been meaning to do this for ages and have just avoided it but I can't avoid it any longer!

You can just stick it in on it's own it will be fine. Or you could do a pot roast with it.

Put the gammon in the middle, fill the rest of the pot with potatoes and veg and add a little boling water/stock.

A can of full fat cola
A jar of Paul Newmans BBQ sauce

Whack them both in on top of the gammon and cook on low for 8 hours
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Soak it for half an hour to help get rid of the salt, rinse it and chuck it in. Then put in 2 big tumbler glasses of apple juice and 2 big glasses of water and let it do it's thing.

I cooked my smoked gammon with a can of cola.....very nice indeed and the kids loved it.

Think I'll try redlac's recipe next time....sounds delish :)

I've got some gammon in the slow cooker RIGHT NOW! It's Jamie Oliver's Summer Gammon Hotpot recipe- basically loads of veg and herbs in with the gammon, then towards end I will take gammon out, rip it up and put it back.
The only thing I had to do apart from shoving everything in together was bring the gammon to the boil first in another pan, then discard that water. Reduces the saltiness apparently.
I'll let you know how it turns out later!

A couple of tablespoons of soft brown sugar and a splash of water

terrywoganstrousers · 02/08/2012 07:58

i slice or quarter a large onion, sit the gammon on top, tip in a glass of apple juice and that's it!

I am ever so slightly concerned it is on the turn though. I put a cup of cider in with mine.

Man I wish I'd not had to leave for work so early - some (all) of these sound amazing.
I ended up googling and doing the first thing that came up which was to pour an entire bag Shock of brown sugar in with it.

Will it be grim?

Sweet Grin let us know.

PrincessOfSnails · 02/08/2012 12:13

In good news it's not on the turn so although all my teeth will fall out at least I won't get raging D&V

Actually I have to say the Jamie's hotpot thing was rank. I was going out to eat with a friend (luckily for meGrin) and when I came back in for something DP was making himself and DD fish finger butties as they had had a good go at eating it but failed Blush
