I gave up trying to keep pancakes as deserts last year, & for one day put out Ice Cream, melted choc, Bananas, maple syrup, lemon, sugar, etc etc & made pancakes until they had had enough.

They all thought it fab, & it's only one day :)

Anyone else do this?

MT - can I come to yours please? It sounds better than the John lewis crepe counter!

Put orange/apple juice or mushed banana on them.

red37 · 27/02/2006 21:55

Went to tesco last year on pancake day, everything sold out even lemon juice.Sad

made sure I got my batter mix weeks ago.

That really pissed me off last year, the worst day of my life.

spidermama · 27/02/2006 21:57

Delia's pancake recipe is the best I've found.
Sadly I've lost my cc.

divamummy · 27/02/2006 22:02

just wondered who is hiding from moondog Grin

LipstickMum · 27/02/2006 22:03

Oh yeah, we're only having pancakes for supper, definitely!

crunchie · 27/02/2006 22:04

nulnulcat, you can buy ready made pancakes if you really can't try doing them. Sometimes I do this, then fill them with grated cheese and ham for a main course - I insist they MUST eat AT LEAST one savoury pancake first. Then pudding ones. However I can't think of many fillings you would approve of except mashed banana.

Mine have lemon and sugar, maple syrup, choclate spread and sometimes jam. Uaually on or two savoury ones and then at least 2 pudding ones each.

Actually DH is supposed to be feeding them tomorrow, and he's not feeling well. Perhaps I'll get him to hold dinner until I get in :)

busybusybee · 27/02/2006 22:04

JanH - I am :o at the image of the "craven villan" stealing your omlette pan!!!!!!!

spidermama · 27/02/2006 22:07

You should be hiding from moondog. Wink
Buying a batter mix? I've never heard the like.

KristinaM · 27/02/2006 22:13

Delia says.....

4oz plain flour
pinch salt
2 large eggs
7 fluid oz milk and 3 fl oz water
2 tablesp melted butter

sieve flour and salt, add eggs and whisk. gradually add water and milk mixture

voila!

nulnulcat · 27/02/2006 22:22

its not that i dont approve i love lemon and sugar however if dd has sugar or most of the usual fillings she will still be running round like a lunatic at 3am!! will dig out delia how to cook i think and have a go and have batter mix in case of disaster

spidermama · 27/02/2006 22:33

Tommy · 27/02/2006 23:21

we're going to have them at snack time (around 3.30ish) only because I have to go out to a meeting at 5.30 and although the babysitter is great I can't imagine that she'll eant to make them. I'll eat them all though Grin

SorenLorensen · 27/02/2006 23:34

No way - they are pudding. We are having home made chicken and vegetable soup, then pancakes for 'afters'.

We'll just be having pancakes with a choice of lemon, sugar, golden syrup, maple syrup or nutella (aka "Chocolate jam") to serve. Mmmmmmmm! :)

The diet starts again tomorrow! Grin
