Just watched the hairy bikers discuss brekky and I wonder.. Is there a better breakfast then eggs benedict.
I mean, it's just the tastiest thing ever!

Nope! Bit of bacon as well doesn't hurt. Oh, and maybe some rosti too if I'm feeling greedy - but I was going to come on this thread and say eggs benedict before I read your post Grin

squaresausage · 04/06/2012 16:41

Done properly it cannot be beaten
< slevvers> :o

Actually, a mortons roll and square sausage comes close! A great Glasgow delicacy!

I don't like hollandaise sauce, so anything is better than eggs benedict.

I like breakfast wraps - scrambled eggs with chorizo and mushrooms and salsa in a tortilla wrap.

myalias · 04/06/2012 16:53

Nothing beats the Full English Breakfast

squaresausage · 04/06/2012 16:54

Sounds very Mexican trills. They also made a veg filled dosa with onion seeds and turmeric. How nice would it be to pick that up in the morn. Nom nom!

eggs benedict - it's what i was thinking as soon as i saw the thread title... but the hollandaise has to be 'proper'.. mmmmmmmm.......

BertieBotts · 04/06/2012 16:55

Ooh I've never had eggs benedict, but would like to.

My favourite breakfast is scrambled egg on toast with tinned tomatoes and crispy bacon. But some weird people don't like tinned tomatoes Confused

wonderfultykes · 04/06/2012 16:56

Got to be kedgeree

squaresausage · 04/06/2012 16:57

Myalias - you get a great Scottish/English divide on that one. Beans or not? Mushrooms?
I like a square sausage, potato scone, scrambled eggs, black pudding and some bacon on my fry up.
Mmmm!

yellowraincoat · 04/06/2012 16:58

eggs benedict or its spinachy cousin eggs florentine.

fry-up (with minor scottish addition of tattie scone, you can leave your black pudding though, uuuugh)

squaresausage · 04/06/2012 16:58

Tinned toms are fine on a brekkie IMO, Bertie. If someone made a me a fine kedgeree I'm sure I would wolf that down kes!

OP posts:
squaresausage · 04/06/2012 17:00

Raincoat, you put a blob of tomato sauce on a bit of black pudding. That's the secret!

OP posts:
chezchaos · 04/06/2012 17:00

As a veggie, Quorn bacon and halloumi bagels can't be beaten!

yellowraincoat · 04/06/2012 17:02

blergh, squaresausage, that's worse. Love tomato ketchup but not on a fry-up.

All puddings are evil, white, black, mealie...they are just grim.

Ambrosius · 04/06/2012 17:04

Eggs Benedict! Grin
Or fry up with tattie scones.

Ambrosius · 04/06/2012 17:05

Ooh and square sausage one
that fry up please!

squaresausage · 04/06/2012 17:10

Quorn bacon and haloumi?! I would defo try that!
Yellow, just go for the black pud - puts wind in yer sails. :o

OP posts:
squaresausage · 04/06/2012 17:12

Wouldn't mind a recipe for that kedgeree kes.

OP posts:
squaresausage · 04/06/2012 17:13

Now eggs benedict on a tatte scone....mmmmm ambrosia!
:)

kedgeree big favourite here too but also love American pancakes with maple syrup
kedgeree: for 4 people
500gm smoked haddock
350 gm cooked rice [pilau is nice]
1 egg per person [ almost hardboiled]
tsp curry powder
egg cup of milk for stirring into rice
paprika to taste
cook and flake the haddock and peel and chop the eggs
mix gently with rice and stir in curry powder, milk and knob of butter
when hot sprinkle with paprika and serve-adjust seasoning to taste
some people prefer to quarter the eggs and serve on top of the rice/fish mixture
This is lovely for supper as well as breakfast.

givemushypeasachance · 04/06/2012 18:00

Just a full English for me! Ideally containing:

Some naice sausages.
Fried eggs with runny yolks.
Bacon, not too fatty but nice and crisp.
Baked beans.
Fried bread.
Black pudding.
Grilled tomato (not tinned, yack!)
A few button mushrooms.
Toast and marmalade on the side.
Coffee black and thick enough to stand a spoon in.

Or a sausage and egg McMuffin if there's no time to sit down and do it justice. Filth, but yummy filth...

sayanything · 04/06/2012 18:57

Nothing beats eggs benedict for me either. I can't get them anywhere in Brussels, it's a tragedy.

EcoLady · 04/06/2012 19:03

In our house it's scrambled eggs with chunks of Brie stirred in 1/2 way through cooking. Flippin' awesome Smile

wordfactory · 04/06/2012 19:04

I love love love eggs benedict.

But I'm also fond of a good old boiled egg and soldiers. Hard to beat with good quality ingredients.

Lexiesgirl · 04/06/2012 19:47

Oooh Eco that sounds amazing! I will be trying that this weekend!
