It is green and shiny and I luff it.

Thought it would be too rude to brag with a photo on Facebook but will share here instead.
I have a new Kitchen Aid mixer, it is sitting gleaming in my kitchen. I had an unexpected tax rebate and instead of being sensible and putting it towards savings I splurged it all (and a bit more) on this gorgeous beast.
Trouble is I'm now a bit paralysed by the reality and have no idea what to do first? Which cake for the inaugural mixing event?
Is it going to be just as wonderful as I think it will be?

What's your all time favourite cake? That should be first.

If I could spirit my Little & Friday cookbook (from NZ, boy do they know about cakes) to you I would and you could choose something fantabulous from that.

Without that I would say something doughy, or meringues. or both.

I got mine about a month ago and I luff mine too! I made my sixth loaf of bread today and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it - oh the joy of putting it onto knead and going and doing something else!

I like to make things with lots of steps just because I can - pastry is sooooo easy so something like lemon meringue pie suddenly becomes a snap Grin

I want a shiny red one.

It is my dream

What colour is it?

I need the white one.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 04/05/2012 19:38

I mean - I know it's GREEN, but which green?

I am def finding the money to get one. If DH can spend twice that much on a bike I can buy a KA!
I've got chickens now too so have to do something with all those eggs. Grin

prayerbook · 04/05/2012 19:48

Sorry delayed by putting children to bed.
It is quite a bright green, perhaps lime green although that sounds a bit grim. But it isn't grim at all I promise.

I agree chipping, it is a dreadful amount of money to spend on something to bake with. I do already feel guilty. But I won't try to justify it. I will just enjoy.

Carrot cake a possibility, want to try pastry too. Which attachment for pastry brian? Will do pizza dough in it tomorrow too. No pic unfortunately, but trust me it looks fab on our overwhelmingly brown original 1982 vicarage kitchen.

Question is, does it count as a tax deductible work expense for baking for parishioners? :)

I just use the wide paddle one for pastry, stick it up to about 6 to cut the butter in then down when you add the water - but really once you start it's easy to play it by ear with the speeds.

I have made the BEST pizzas with dough made in the KA too. You can even mash potatoes with it! It pays for itself! (Well, not quite, but I've used it nearly every day since I got mine).

Mine is bright red even though nothing else in my kitchen, nay, house, is red. But it still looks great Grin

PrayerBook - I don't think you should feel guilty at all and I certainly wasn't trying to make you feel guilty! I was only talking about my situation - not yours!!

There are a couple of 'Greens' on their colour chart - it sounds like you have the nicest one :) I like the colours (I like the hot pink one they had on the reality baking show with Mary-whats-her-name, but not sure if they are the same brand or not?!). My new kitchen is going to be white, so I could probably get away with a coloured one, but the white one looks lovely :)

I would put it through as an expense Grin It's worth a go! :)

What have you made????

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 05/05/2012 17:09

Mike Grin

I would quite like several of them with a large storage pantry so I could choose the one I was in the mood for that day Grin

I need to win the Euro so I can move re-do my kitchen!!! and buy lots of lovely kitchen toys to look at, not use

startail · 05/05/2012 17:31

You can save almost £200 and still get a silver Kenwood, that will do the same job and last forever.

MikeLitoris · 05/05/2012 17:42

startail Shock I'll pretend you didn't say that.

Chipping will you please buy me one when you win the lotto? I'll even let you pick which colour as long as it is boysenberry

I am mixer less at the moment and am so tempted to splurge on one. We are having a stupid holiday instead.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 05/05/2012 17:49

Mike - Oh go on then! :) But you have to make me a carrot cake OK?! Have you had one before?

wem · 05/05/2012 17:57

MikeLitoris · 05/05/2012 18:04

Tbf there are some nice Kenwood ones out there. I'm probably going to get a kenwood prospero. The 900watt one. Can't link as I'm on my phone.

The kmix ones are lovely too.

Limelight · 05/05/2012 18:07

They are amazing, whipping up a cake is sooo easy! I have a black one and got the matching blender for Xmas

Green one sounds lovely but the red one mike linked to is fab!

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 05/05/2012 18:13

I thought a KA just mixed stuff? I had no idea it did other things! Is there a list of everything it can do?

singingmum · 05/05/2012 18:17
