You'll be pleased to know, I have used my Prospero again today - for cake and buttercream. Much easier than doing it by hand. Am going to do Hot Cross Buns at the weekend - my first attempt at dough. Might make smoothies with DS later, so I can use the blender attachment.

TunipTheVegemal · 15/03/2012 14:47

I would love a chipper. Hopefully when Kenwood bring the Prospero mill out they will get their act together wrt Prospero attachments.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/03/2012 15:01

I've had to go quiet because I started piling on the pounds and at the same time decided I needed to go a bit more low GI in my diet. However I am still lurking and don't want the thread to die, planning some breadmaking at the weekend.

HuevosRancheros · 15/03/2012 16:27

I'm still here, but DH has been away for 5 days, and whereas I naively thought that meant I'd do loads of baking, it meant I was knackered looking after the kids and didn't have much spare time.

Also, I am the failure of the group (there has to be one)

I attempted rubbing in with the Kbeater again, still rubbish. But, the processor did it superbly, so I'm happy to use that.

Then I made MrsC's millionaire's shortbread. Tasted fab, but all the caramel oozed off the top, and the chocolate cracked into odd shaped pieces when I cut it. Still tasted lush, but could not be offered to anyone outside of the family!

Then I made HoneyDragon's (I think?) amazing frosting. Prospero worked his arse off, definitely earned his keep. But I didn't like it, sorry. Just tasted like sweet whipped cream. But it has shown that it will make amazing buttercream, with all that beating.

On the upside, it made excellent fairy cakes :)

And I have just got Dan Lepard's Short and Sweet, and am looking forward to making lots!

TheScottishPlayer · 15/03/2012 16:31

I'm a bit annoyed with Kenwood. Before I succumbed to the lure of the 265 I emailed them asking a bit more info about the 288. Weeks later I've had a 'we're really sorry about the delayed reply, the Prospero is available from Sainsbury's, Amazon and other retailers'. Which didn't answer any of my questions at all.

However, I won't hold it against Ken and will most definitely be watching out for some chipper attachments.

I'd like to use the blender for smoothies - anyone got any favourite recipes? We're going away so no Ken action for me this weekend sadly but I'm sure the wine I will consume at friends will console me

VikingVagine · 15/03/2012 16:56

Our fave smoothie here isn't actually a smoothie but a banana milkshake: milk, banana and a tiny bit of vanilla, mmmmmmmm.

I just hijacked the kitchenaid thread.

I haven't done anymore baking since the beet root cake (busy at work ATM), and DH actually bought some puff pastry to make an apple pie this week, grumble grumble.

Did you tell them all to buy Prosperos? Did they report you for trolling?

How is a Kitchenaid dance different from a Prospero dance? Apart from the more colourful costumes.

Jins · 15/03/2012 17:06

I liked viking's dance so I thought I'd try one myself.

Kellamity · 15/03/2012 17:07

Joins Jin is a flash mob stylee KitchenAid dance! Grin

Jins · 15/03/2012 17:19

to be fair I'd have loved to have joined this thread :(

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/03/2012 18:05

My favourite smoothies:

Milk, banana and vanilla ice cream, can't beat it.

Also liquidised watermelon and vodka

TheCunningStunt · 15/03/2012 18:08

Grin are we the poor relations???

MrsChemist · 15/03/2012 18:26

There was a smoothie that they used to make in selfriges, it was called red eye and it was lovely. As far as I can remember, it was milk, strawberry, passion fruit and honey. There may have been banana, but I'm not sure. It's worth experimenting on anyway.

TeaOneSugar · 15/03/2012 19:22

My Ken is still a busy chap, he made chocolate fairy cakes with nutella buttercream frosting on Tuesday and a chocolate orange drizze cake today.

I'm fighting a losing battle with my weigh at the moment so the chocolate orange drizzle will be going to work with me tomorrow for our Friday team meeting treat.

My attachments still haven't been posted, unless the seller just hasn't marked it as posted :(.

TeaOneSugar · 15/03/2012 19:23

BTW Nutella buttercream is amazing,

100g butter
100g Icing Sugar
3 tbsp nutella

MrsChemist · 15/03/2012 20:01

Nutella. Buttercream.

VikingVagine · 15/03/2012 20:21

Bet they don't have nutella buttercream on their wealthy KA thread!

OP posts:
TheCunningStunt · 15/03/2012 20:25

Oooh yum. I am losing weight. How is that possible???

MrsChemist · 15/03/2012 20:32

I'm watching Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard on 4oD. I urge you all to watch it. I've learnt a lot from it although he does own a Kitchenaid

TheScottishPlayer · 15/03/2012 20:39
MrsChemist · 15/03/2012 20:43

I lie! He has a K mix. Hurrah Eric Lanlard!

Caz10 · 16/03/2012 05:27

Yummmmm to nutella buttercream, I keep meaning to try nigella's nutella cake...I am so tired this week with a non sleeping dd2 that poor old chef has been neglected! But I have to provide puddings for people at the weekend so he will be busy again! I'm thinking pavlova then he can basically do everything?!

I'm off to nosey at the kitchen aid people...
