I have just got into drinking hot chocolate at night. I have tried cocoa powder and find it awful.

I have found a few others - i quite like galaxy but alot of them are either too powdery or too 'claggy'

Someone recommend a really scrummy, rich, smooth one please!

Proper flaked chocolate (Thorntons do some It hink or there's Charbonel & Walker (?) ). Expensive, bad for you but worth every penny.

Mix with a small amount of boiling water to melt and then add hot milk...

saadia · 26/01/2006 12:01

I have Cadbury's drinking chocolate in a big mug of semi-skimmed milk. Heat it all together with sugar in a pan. Must admit that I do add more choc than they say (I put in 9 tsp . I've been having this since I was a kid but have just recently stopped as I think all this milk has been giving me a dodgy tummy.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/01/2006 12:46

oh, am drooooooooooooooling at the hotel chocolate websit JN!

I wasnt overly impressed with Cadburys.

The flaked chocolate stuff is what i've been after.....someone got me it for xmas which is how i got on to drinking it in the first place.

Will also check out Green & Blacks (love their ginger chocolate bars......yum)

Thanks all.

Another vote for Green and Blacks here.

Whittards own is also very good. I have a nice varied selection in my cupboard atm.

Nbg · 26/01/2006 16:31

Probably not where you think

I would say the Hotel Chocolat is worthy of being a pressie but the Green and Blacks is £2 in our local supermarket.

ja9 · 26/01/2006 16:35

I have a really scrummy white chocolate one from whittards - it's truly devine!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/01/2006 16:46

im easily pleased

white chocolate has gotta be tried - didnt know you could get a white chocolate one!

I thought G&B was a bit...low-strength. Lacked chocolate depth.
Why don't you like cocoa? Are you making it properly?

There's some Californian type...can't remember what it is, it isn't pronounced the way you might expect....it's in Tales of the City..

satine · 26/01/2006 16:58

I like the Horlicks malted hot chocolate. You only add water, and it's quite cheap, but I really like it.

Waitrose drinking chocolate works for us

Filyjonk · 26/01/2006 17:08

Green + Blacks (esp Maya Gold)
Montezuma's
Or failing that, just buy a bar of quality chocolate (70%+ cocoa solida) + melt into a cup of milk. Thats all it is really.
