Help! Best chocolate in the world and I can't find it again.

This is such a middle-class crisis but I'm beyond caring.

A few months ago I bought a bar of dark chocolate with cherry and almond filling (not chunks of almond, a paste, more like marzipan) from a branch of Whole Foods Market. I loved it and was craving it today, but when I went to look for it they didn't have it and the assistant told me, basically, 'Computer says no'. I would just find another stockist and crawl over hot coals for it order it online or whatever, but I can't remember the brand name. I've Googled 'cherry and almond chocolate' to no avail.

Does ANYONE have any idea what chocolate I'm on about? It was about the size of a Green & Blacks big bar, dark packaging. I have an idea that the brand was German and that it had some buzzword like 'organic', 'biodynamic' or some such on the label.

TIA!

Amelia Rose stuff is lovely. I have a bar of pale lime and sea salt begging to be eaten! She trained as an aromatheraoist, so her palate is devine AND she was on Masterchef (so OK in my book!). She has a website and her chocolate really is worth trying.

takes notes

It's only for wearing in the bedroom anyway. (Lol at the thought of wearing an overcoat in the bedroom.)

Frontpaw, the Wholefoods in Glasgow is in Giffnock, Southside.

Frontpaw · 16/02/2012 18:02

Ah the South, where the driving is wild (according to my dad)

mrscumberbatch · 16/02/2012 18:04

That's hilarious Frontpaw and your Dad is so right. It's been an eye opener.

It's the tiiiiny wee old ladies in mercedes that you need to watch out for. They have no fear and probably no eyesight whatsoever!

mrscumberbatch · 17/02/2012 11:00

Post a link as I'm on Ze iPhone But is it Zotter chocolate?
Never heard of th before but it's looking like the likely suspect

mrscumberbatch · 17/02/2012 11:02

That should read that I CANT post a link. Strewth!

wildstrawberryplace · 17/02/2012 11:26

Blimey those filled bars look absolutely delicious and I have greedily ordered the banana, butter truffle and cherry brandy ones already.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/02/2012 11:29

Frontpaw, that sounds amazing.

The lemon and sea salt is lovely too. I'm not into dark chocolate but did try one with almonds - very yummy.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2012 13:47

Hi ladyClarice Smile Who is the maker of that delicious sounding choc. you were looking for?

BTW talking amazing choc. we have a wonderful chocolatiere in our local town In fr. who make their own and you can ask them to make what you want, I have asked them to do a lemon marzipan and or ginger marzipan bar for me 'cos I LOVE marzipan!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/02/2012 13:53

ppeatfruit, that's just my problem ? I don't know! Although I think BelleEnd's post of Thu 16-Feb-12 17:32:42 might have nailed it.

Maybe you could ask your chocolatiere to make me a dark choc/cherry/almond but NOT too marzipan-tasting bar. And airmail it to me, rather than scoff it yourself and deny all knowledge. Smile

I googled any combination of cherry, almonds, marzipan, chocolate, biodynamic in German that I can think of and can't find anything that fits.
Do you remember the colour of the packaging? That would give me an idea about the brand.

lucysmum · 17/02/2012 16:35

no cherries but my DH loves the Ritter sport marzipan bar (so can at least tick the german bit) At xmas Montezuma did an amazing marzipan chocolate log thing that I think also had dried fruit in so if you can wait til xmas that might fit the bill

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/02/2012 16:39

I think, as has been mentioned upthread, I may have imagined the German bit Blush. Sorry. I think it's Chocolove. I've emailed them begging asking politely about stockists. If I order it from them online I have to buy a case of 12 Grin.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/02/2012 16:41

G'wan. Buy the case. You know you want to...

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/02/2012 16:55

Stop it! Grin

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2012 18:08

You can share it out among us chocoholics !!

mrscumberbatch · 17/02/2012 19:31

Did you check the Zotter website as that's what wholefoods advised it was likely to be... And that would resolve the Germanic connotations as well.

wildstrawberryplace · 17/02/2012 23:12

Zotter cherry chocolate

Zotter Golden cherry and almond chocolate

Miomio · 17/02/2012 23:23

right i want this bloody choolate now...

and try moving from london to glasgow then to edinburgh! ffs it is barely one step up from a small town and the shopping is totally soul sucking dire.

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2012 09:14

Is it Zotter Clarice? It looks nice but not dark enough for me I only eat non dairy choc.

BTW will you be watching Upstairs Downst. this weekend?
