My aunt doesn't eat eggs and she usually converts standard recipes by substituting a tablespoon of yoghurt for each egg. Don't think she has had any disasters but she sticks to fairly basic recipes.

is just so indulgent with that filling & icing that am sure you could get away with an store bought egg free sponge mixture and still make something absolutely lush.

Maybe have a look on the allergy boards? Don't have time to search and link now but there are at least a couple of threads of 'free from' recipes on there. Also, not sure if it was this month or last month but Good Housekeeping just had a recipe for egg-free choc cake that I plan to try for ds's birthday (he is allergic). I will post the recipe later if I can find it

I have just made this to take to a friends house tomorrow (her DD is dairy/egg/nut allergic).

I'm planning on cutting a cake size portion off for icing for the grown ups and and making the rest into cake-pops for the kids.
