Alas whenever I cook vegetarian I always think "that looks like a really nice side dish".

NO, I don't. Haven't eaten meat since I was about 13. Never really liked it much at all.

hub2dee · 16/11/2005 19:29

Ewwwwwwwwwwww meat ? How can you ?

That's disgusting.

I mean, think of a lovely pringle crisp.

Is that meat ?

That's heaven.

Heaven is a pringle followed by a profiterole.

You don't need to spoil it by downing a pint of pig's blood.

Oh, sorry if I've upset any meat eaters, I'm just dreaming of my VEGGIE SUSHI that is, infact, turning up within ten minutes.

TC - Have you ate at Café Japan, Golders Green ? Do you eat sushi ? I like their Wafu Salad and deep-fried tofu !

superblastofflips · 16/11/2005 19:31

LadyTophamHatt · 16/11/2005 19:32

HRHQoQ · 16/11/2005 19:35

well I've just had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, and DS2 ate most of mine and DH's Roast Chicken on Saturday night...........

unicorn · 16/11/2005 19:36

c'mon fess up?

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 19:36

mmmmmmmmmmm yum! Chicken, Beef, Turkey, Lamb, Pork - all my faves!

aloha · 16/11/2005 19:37

Oh yes. Ds: 'I like meat mummy. But only organic meat' which is all the result of the new organic butcher on Lordship Lane.
However, am STILL to wussy to really explain to him that lamb is, um, lamb.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 16/11/2005 19:40

I love meat, and I eat my steaks, blue, my good friend H, always looks at it and says MMMMMMmm nothing a good vet couldn't get back on its feet.

swings · 16/11/2005 19:44

No I don't. I was brought up vegetarian in a Jewish family of vegetarians so I never 'got the taste'. I tried to eat some chicken at various times when I thought it would be good for me but it tasted so animally, like eating a bit of farmyard. I do try to entice dd to eat a bit of chicken or fish especially as dp does eat meat but she's not that impressed.

suedonim · 16/11/2005 20:21

We're all meateaters but I'm not that enthusiastic about it. Dh and offspring are positively carnivorous while my dil and ds2's gf are veggie.

I'm reading Hugh Fearnley-Thingummy's book 'Meat' which I borrowed from a friend's dh. He makes a good case for meat-eating but only if it has been thoughtfully raised and cared for. I thought I knew about 'bad' ways of rearing animals but some of the details in his book are stomach-churning. I'm def going to be trying to buy more organic meat esp poultry.

lucycinco · 16/11/2005 20:23

not really but i like donner kebabs and bacon.

skinnycow · 16/11/2005 20:23

im not a meat lover at all - would rather eat a plate of vegetables or fish than slices of meat.

Dh and the children love meat though.

weesaidie · 16/11/2005 20:30

Yup yup yup... I am like Ladymuck, eating veggie (unless is a big bowl of pasta!) doesn't feel like a 'whole' meal to me!

Nightynight · 16/11/2005 20:41

yes, I do, but I dont need to eat it every day.

hunkermunker · 16/11/2005 20:43

Prefer it to Marmite

CarolinaMoon · 16/11/2005 20:43

oooh yes, love it

not sure how I'd cope with sticking a pig or wringing a chicken's neck myself though - it's easy enough not to be squeamish when it's all in supermarket packets isn't it?
