I say an ingredient, you say the first complementary ingredient that comes to mind, then throw another ingredient into the mix.

Grin

I'll start.

salmon

OP posts:
twirlymum · 01/03/2011 18:28

puff pastry

(as in salmon en croute. Have I got the right idea?)

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 18:34

Yep sure do!

What's your ingredient twirly?

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 18:36

Rice - to go with salmon.

Butternut squash (for the next ingredient).

twirlymum · 01/03/2011 18:42

Ravioli (filled with butternut squash)

pecan nuts

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 18:42

cranberries

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 18:43
Blush

I forgot.

spinach

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 18:49

Mandarins, to go with spinach in a spinach, mandarin, and pecan salad with sweet onion dressing.
(Just to fancy up the original idea and possibly get new food ideas.

New ingredient: Lentils.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 18:52

caramelised onions

That's a good idea Jacksmania (were you mama before btw?)

raspberries

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 19:05

I was Jacksmama, and then galwaygirl accidentally renamed me on Southsea's thread (prem ruptured membranes, in the U.S.) and I liked it so much I namechanged :o

What would you do with lentils and caramelized onions?

Ingredient to go with raspberries - oats and brown sugar and some flour and butter to make raspberry crumble. Mmmmm {needing comfort food emoticon].

New ingredient: Pork loin.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 19:07

I saw a recipe last week for lentils and onions, I'll try and find it.

erm,

apples

  • someone posted in here recenty about pork flattened out filled with stuffing and caramelised apples then rerolled with pancetta. Yum.
OP posts:
Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 19:23

Hmmm. Ok, I'm going to be lame and say the same as above (ingredients for a crumble) to go with apples.

Next ingredient: Pineapple.

(Have you noticed we're playing this by ourselves? LOL.)

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 19:26

They're all boring feckers!

Or, are we? Confused

cheese, obv.

And stop with the crumble action. [wunk]

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 19:28

We're not boring!! Shock

But you might be drunk :o - what's [wunk] mean?? Is that a combination of [drunk] and Wink?

Cheese and pineapple? Envy in a kind of way. Unless on pizza.

Ok, next ingredient: pizza.

(I think I'm messing this up somehow.)

Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 19:29

Ok, I have to take a break - I'm at work (Pacific Time Zone, it's 11:30 am here) - will be back in an hour or so :)

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/03/2011 19:30

I'm just putting DCs to bed - I'll have a mini break too.

pizza doesn't count by the way!!

And is to early for wine.

Wink
OP posts:
candleshoe · 01/03/2011 19:32

red wine plus chicken thighs - nom nom nom

new ingredient:

Aubergine

TorcherQueenie · 01/03/2011 19:37

Mozzerella to be wrapped in the aubergine and oven baked Grin

ponders Carrots.

Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 20:17

What??? Pizza doesn't count? Hmmmf

BTW, it is not too early for wine. I mean, yes, technically, it is too early here. But since I'm talking to (typing to?) people in the UK, I'm on UK time.
That is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Hmmm. Carrots.

Ok, carrots and pumpkin in Curried Carrot and Pumpkin Soup.

New ingredient: pizza

:o

Ground beef. I believe you call it mince?

Curlybrunette · 01/03/2011 21:36

Hi can I join in?

Mince definately makes me think of tomato sauce, to make lasagne. My staple dish if people are coming for dinner and I can't be arsed haven't the time to think of anything else more original.

My next ingredient is goat's cheese.

I'm writing this as I have some slightly out of date goat's cheese in my fridge and don't know what to do with it (and going to start a new thread about this too!)

Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 21:38

Goat's cheese??? Sorry, Chaos, but for goat's cheese, the reply must be PIZZA.

Next: basil leaves.

moondog · 01/03/2011 21:40

tomatoes

chillies

candleshoe · 01/03/2011 22:20

Chilies

Spaghetti with scallops cooked in garlic butter with fresh red chilli and parsley.

Next: saffron (my sister brought it back from India in January - don't know what to do with it!)

moondog · 01/03/2011 22:21

OOh, do yerself a paella or a risotto.

Jacksmania · 01/03/2011 22:24

Oooohhh... saffron! Saffron rice, definitely! It's like a risotto.

Finely chop onion and garlic, saute in butter. Add saffron threads. Saute rice grains in butter w/ onion, garlic and saffron until translucent. Start adding chicken stock. Add some curry powder, turmeric and salt. When you've added enough chicken stock so he rice is cooked, add a bit of cream. Yummy!!
I chop up tomatoes, green chilies and add green peas to it.

New ingredient: blueberry jam.

candleshoe · 01/03/2011 22:26

Sounds yummy - I'll try it next week.

Don't fancy blueberry jam much
