With eggs and bread

WigWamBam · 06/10/2005 12:16

I whisk an egg in a bowl, dip the bread in and then fry it in a bit of oil.

can i s upress a parp?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 06/10/2005 12:19

Seriously, beat the eggs in the same way as you would for scrambled egg. Get the pan hot, dip the bread in both sides, put it on the pan, take it off the pan, salt and pepper.

Oh yummy.........................

There are some philistines out there who put jam on it

frannykenstein · 06/10/2005 12:38

No, no, golden syrup is better

frannykenstein · 06/10/2005 12:39

Cod, just let your parps out, you look like you've got trapped wind.

Grin
expatinscotland · 06/10/2005 12:40

Maple syrup, of course!

munz · 06/10/2005 12:41

we used to have it in a sarnie with a bit of ham/cheese - v greesy but nice all the same (normally only one slice of the bread thou. (was a bit soggy as well)

Bewitched · 06/10/2005 12:43

You can add cinnamon or nutmeg to the egg if you want a sweet version too.

spookyserenity · 06/10/2005 12:43

butter, or icing sugar and cinammon (this is not the healthy option)

I like to leave the bread to soak for a bit before I fry it, none of this 'dipping' malarky and I add some milk to the beaten egg as well.

iota · 06/10/2005 12:47

add cinnamon strawberries and whipped cream

LadyCodofCodford · 06/10/2005 12:47

and cabbage

Iklboo · 06/10/2005 12:49

spookylips · 06/10/2005 12:51

are you talking about "Fritters!"

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 06/10/2005 13:46

what in the name of all that's holy are you doing eating golden syrup/cinnamon/whipped cream with eggy bread?? crispy bacon. that's the thing
and we call it "French Toast" cos we're dead posh .

frannyf - golden syrup has sugar in it you know at the empty calories

frannykenstein · 06/10/2005 15:53

hc - You don't think I would actually eat it do you? Eggy bread? The cholesterol! Refined wheat products! Dairy produce - possibly non-organic dairy produce! [shudder] I was mentioning it purely for reference purposes, you understand.

Now stop following me around to poke fun at my food nazihood or I'll stick a tofu rissole where the sun don't shine.

Millie1 · 06/10/2005 17:18

It has to be bacon & maple syrup every time .... mmmmmm!

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 06/10/2005 19:59

honestly FrannyF! - sticking your tongue out at me , threatening to insert nutritious and wholesome snacks into orifices... where did you learn such manners?? watching too much tv, I reckon. bad influence.

frannykenstein · 07/10/2005 10:31

Listen, matey, if you want to heft harpsichords, you need to keep your strength up! You'll not get far on a bit of eggy bread, even if you do call it Oeufs Avec Du Pain et Syrupe D'Or. You need lentils and you need them now, so open wide...
